Mojo Sketch #102

I managed to get some time to stamp today AND use my new Verve Stamps, what more can a girl ask for :D. I decided to celebrate my new Verve stamps by going with this week's Mojo Sketch. I had a bit of a brain freeze when it came to this sketch so I cheated a bit by using two bows as the side panels and moved my brads to the other side. I put three half pearls in the center of the flower, popped up the main image panel and used the Diamonds in the Rough EF for the background.

It felt wonderful to be able to stamp again and hopefully I can get to the Verve Sketch with a Twist this week too. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Kreativ Award

Maureen over at Buttons and Bling gave me the Kreativ Blogger award. That means I have something to post this week as I have had no time to stamp!! I'm counting sleeps until school starts (just 10 to go until their first full day) as I am very low on "mommy time" and stamping time after a wonderful summer with my kids! Sorry to any teachers out there (Maureen) as your job begins even before my ten sleeps are over with classrooms that need to be set up, then you get a brand new batch of kids you need to "train" as to how you run your classroom, a fresh batch of parents to deal with etc., etc.

As part of this award I need to state 7 things that people may find interesting about me. They are as follows:

1. I have lived in 4 countries - Costa Rica, USA, Canada, The Netherlands.

2. I worked with Billy Graham for a summer during the Vancouver, BC Crusade and for a year in Amsterdam where we prepared for and then hosted a two week conference for itinerant evangelists from all over the world to attend. There were approx. 10,000 participants who attended and we had to set up everything from booking accommodations, transportation, meals, flights, and a whole lot more! It was an amazing year to say the least!

3. I have never permed, coloured or highlighted my hair (it's naturally curly).

4. I was born in Costa Rica.

5. I was not naturally blessed with many creative genes so my "one creative gene" had to go into major training when I started making cards LOL! I love SCS and various blogs I follow as they have stretched my one creative gene to the limits and helped me improve my card making abilities over the past few years.

6. I am extremely competitive! Had to give up most of the sports I did when after my kids were born so I now compete against DP and layouts :)

7. On my 21st birthday while at university, I had 21 different guys throughout the course of the day each give me a rose and sing me happy birthday. It started at 7:00 a.m. and ended at 10:30 p.m. with a bedtime story. One guy showed up in a scuba outfit, another in a tux and played happy birthday on his violin, two arrived at the dining hall and the WHOLE dining hall on campus sang me Happy Birthday once they caught on to what was happening (over 500 people!), three guys with roses delivered them to me in the middle of my Sociology class in a lecture hall of about 450 students -- the Prof. even incorporated the interruption into his lecture as an example of what he was talking about

I don't know 7 other bloggers I can tag so I'll stop at this point for now. Thanks for tagging me, Maureen.

I hope to have some stamping time tomorrow so I should be able to post some things this week for you. Thanks for stopping buy!

Verve August Sketch #4

This is my card for the fourth August Verve sketch. The twist for this week's challenge was to use your favorite colour combination. I don't have one favorite combo, but rather several, so I went with one that I used on sketch #2 as the colours were out on my desk (can you tell what my work area looks like...LOL).

I just love this flower image and I coloured it with Twinkling H2Os. Love the sparkle they give to the image you use them for. I used my oval nesties to cut and emboss the main image --love those nesties! Don't have a lot, but they are at the top of my Christmas Wish List, that's for sure as they add so much to a card! Rest is pretty self explanatory. I apologize for the dark picture. I'll retake it and correct it in a few days.

Thanks for stopping by :D

Verve's August Sketch #3

I spent a good part of today trying to get my blog subscriptions reactivated as I accidentally hit "unsubscribe all" on one of the e-mails I receive! I have a variety of names for myself right now, all of which aren't too flattering LOL! I think between e-mailing Feedblitz and working through things myself I am back in the running -- tomorrow morning's in box will tell. I think I need the kids to go back to school so I can get some mommy time back and not have to stay up late to get it.

Now on to the card. This is Verve's August Sketch #3 and the twist was to use a tag on your card. I love this ribbon I got from the Michael's ribbon. If you have read some of my SCS postings you will know that I spend a LOT of time in that ribbon bin (probably more than any other part of the store LOL!!). I even have my kids trained to help me find second or thirds of the same ribbon in the bin. Just about every time I am rummaging through it I think "There has got to be a better way to store this ribbon!" Guess if you want the low price you have to go digging for it!! Sorry....I digressed! Anyway, this lovely ribbon (of which I also have in green and pink) was my starting point for this card. This is such a wonderful colour combination. I pulled everything else from those colours. I'm in love with this set and can't seem to put it down. Why did I wait so long to get it?!!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.

This is my card for week two of the August Verve Sketches. This week's twist was to use border punches on your card. I love this SU border punch and use it often with my flower cards. I also love to use Mellow Moss and Pretty in Pink together. It is such a "soft" colour combination and when you own as many flower stamps as I do, this is one of my "go to" colour combinations. I popped all the punched flowers up on dimensionals and finished things off with some lovely pink satin ribbon. Sorry about the slightly crooked sentiment...just pretend it is straight LOL!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

I love the Verve Sketches with a twist over at the Verve Forum on Splitcoast Stampers. This week's sketch was to CASE (copy and share everything or copy and selectively edit) one of the Verve Diva's cards and the twist was as follows: if they used designer paper you had to omit it, or if they didn't use any designer paper you had to use some. The Verve Diva Design Team is an amazingly talented group of ladies. I spent over an hour just looking at all their wonderful creations before I settled on CASING
none other than the Queen Diva herself, Julee Tilman, creator and designer of Verve Stamps. Her lovely card can be seen here. I omitted the designer papers, substituted yellow where she used orange and used Chocolate Chip in place of the black. I added a touch of piercing around the corners of the flower panel to finish it off. I am far from a Design Team Diva, but one can always be inspired :D

I'll be back with the other three August Verve sketches over the coming week. Thanks for stopping by :D

I can't believe I am actually jumping into the world of blogging!! I wanted a way to record my card making journey and this route seemed a logical choice.

I started making cards when my children were young and I needed something to do that was just "mommy time". A fellow pre-school mom and Stampin' Up demonstrator introduced me to stamping. I hesitantly decided to give it a try even though I am not naturally gifted in the area of creativity. Over time, my "one creative gene" has been nurtured and inspired mainly through blogs and the many talented and creative ladies on Splitcoast Stampers, in addition to the many wonderful resources the SCS site has to offer. My "one creative gene" has reached new heights and I enjoy the challenge and fulfillment card making provides. Welcome to my journey.

The fabulous picture that is the banner for my blog came from Freefoto.com
