I am waaaay late with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge. It was an insanely busy week last week and I am just now getting a chance to make a card for this wonderful sketch! There are so many things you can do with this sketch that it was hard to settle on one. My first thought was to put a big old snowflake in the middle, but Maureen beat me to it LOL! You can see her card here. So I opted to go with a Valentine's Day card instead. I have always loved hearts and for some reason I was in the mood to make a Valentine's Day card.
I pulled out Martha Stewart's heart border punch which I went to great lengths to get last year because I just loved it. For some reason my local Mike's only carried six of these punches and since it is a "seasonal" item, once they are gone they are gone!! You think after all these years of being there they would learn that this location is in the middle of Scrapbookers and Card Makers Anonymous territory!!! So basically, if you aren't there the day the punches get shelved, you are out of luck - that was me! I was desperate enough, I mean focused enough lol, to travel clear across town to another Mike's that isn't as busy and was willing to put one on hold for me until I got there. Plus I got to use a 40% off coupon - score!!! (savings which got burned up by the gas I had to use, but we don't count that do we - grin..!) It never ceases to amaze me what crazy things we will do all in the name of card making LOL! Okay, confession time is over, back to the card :D
I pulled out my scalloped circle nesties and then punched out two hearts from some darling Making Memories DP. Since the DP had polka dots I just had to use my Swiss Dots embossing folder (yes, I'm in another support group for my over indulgence of this wonderful folder). I popped all the layers as well as the hearts up on dimensionals and finished things off with this lovely sheer silver ribbon. Just noticed you can see the dimensionals under my hearts in the picture -- sorry, my bad. Wrong camera angle!
What's In It?
Paper: Making Memories Small Polka Dots DP, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Martha Stewart Heart Border Punch, Scalloped Nesties, Marvy Heart Punch, Sheer Silver Ribbon, Dimensionals.
Marisa - this is a beautiful take on the Sketch!!! Love the hearts and the heart punch!!! Glad you had a chance to play the Sketch afterall!!! Hugs ~S~
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Marisa! I love all the pretty embossing and the beautiful heart border! Great job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pink card with all the special touches to make it special!
ReplyDeleteMarisa this is so beautiful. I love the hearts.. I too am a huge heart fan. I do the same thing at our Mikes here.. Today I got the new holly punch.. I was so excited. But the day they come out of the box they are gone.. Great job..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I love your border! Excellent job with the sketch. Way to combine challenges! Thanks for playing @ PPA!
ReplyDeleteMarisa what a beauiful soft card, I just love it all!
ReplyDeleteoh, I love the colours and that heart punch is wonderful!! I had to have it too last year and was lucky to get the last one...however, it does not work very well...even on paper. I've tried freezing it, wax paper, tinfoil...everything. Now I see that Michaels has it as a regular MS punch. I may buy another one and then return the broken one. Yours seems to work fine!! You got a lucky one for all your hard work!! I'm waiting for my Verve order so I can work on the Viva sketch :) p.s. you're very welcome and it was my pleasure...I'm paying a lovely deed forward and thought of you :) I knew you would love it :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet, I like the hearts and your pink and white are perfect.
