Time was tight and my creative gene was napping today, so I did a big cheat and literally cased this Limelight Sketch for my card today. I have had it in my "must try" sketches for some time now, and today was the perfect opportunity to use it - cheat and all :)
Had to substitute So Saffron for Daffodil Delight, and close matching Bazzili Lakeshore paper for the Marina Mist but they worked wonderfully well. Have to celebrate the sunshine we are fiiiinally getting by using my butterfly die :) I ruffled some of this fun black and white polka dotted ribbon which I dug out of the Michael's ribbon bin. Made me soooo mad to not be able to find a second roll in that darn bin. Don't ask me how long I dug trying to find another one! Let's just say I just about dumped the entire bin over on to the floor in my frustration LOL!

What a pretty reminder that summer is coming! I love the butterfly and the layout! I hope I get something done with these colors before it's too late.
ReplyDeleteSO pretty, Marisa! I love your interpretation of the sketch, and that ruffled bargain ribbon from Michael's is stunning. Thanks for some sunniness this morning!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty, Marisa! I'm just loving the butterfly's twine "antennae" and pearl trail. And I don't blame you for diving into the bin to look for more of this ribbon. My Michael's never has any basic staples like this in the bargain bin, but if they did I would be sure to clean them out!
ReplyDeleteYou never cease to blow me away! This is fantastic as usual! Great work.
ReplyDeleteI feeling the love of Spring with this one for sure ;) the blue and yellow with black is stunning...unexpected and I love it! We are slowly warming up here, but not fast enough for me! LOL Although, I am loving the blue skies and that it's not dark when I leave for work anymore...hugs!!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, Marisa. I love all the dots - on the wonderful rippled ribbon, on the top corner, and leaving a trail of the butterfly. I also love the way you created the antennae! Great job on the Dare.
ReplyDeleteGreat use of the sketch, LOL!!! You stilled added your own touches!! Love the twine antenna and pearl trail!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Marisa - I love the butterfly and the ruffled ribbon. Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog. xx
ReplyDeleteI am lovin' that polka dotted ribbon! And I am ready to see a few butterflies myself but I think it will be only snow snow snow for another 2 months! In the meantime I will enjoy your beautiful butterfly!
ReplyDeleteMarisa, you made me laugh with your "creative gene napping" comment! I definitely have times like that. It's great that you took the sketch literally and included a butterfly on your card, in honor of the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Awesome job with the sketch and the colors! This card is so you!
ReplyDeleteGreat card! Love the color combo with your butterfly & ruffled ribbon :)
ReplyDeleteThis is GREAT, Marisa, and I love the way you used the colors here, so fun! That ribbon treatment is fab as well. Thanks for the nice comment on my blog. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful "Marisa" card! I love that gorgeous butterfly and your colors are spot-on perfect! And it's okay to find inspiration in the inspiration piece, that's what it's there for...even literally! Great job, my dear!
ReplyDeleteWell what have I learned this morning? Marisa + ruffled ribbon = perfection! Love this - and I don't know why you figure your creative gene was napping - I suspect it was out in full force ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat card!
I can never do anything with So Saffron but I love this mix of colors. When I opened your card, I thought, WOW, great colors. I love the dotted ribbon and it is so pretty scrunched. Yummy card, Marisa!
ReplyDeleteMarisa, I'm so impressed that this is the kind of work you can create when your "creative gene was napping". WOWZA! This is so beautiful in every way! That scrunched ribbon is awesome! I have the same problem in that $1 bin...it's like the "good" rolls are one in a million! Can't wait to try this color combo this week! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty and a perfect Marisa card! Love your big Blue Morpho butterfly and how the sweet polka dot ribbon echoes the brads and butterfly trail. GREAT use of this week's colors! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card Marisa! I love your ribbon treatment and your layout is fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteTerrific job with this weeks colors my dear, tfs!!
Hugs
