Big and Small Blessings

It's contest week over at the Mojo Monday blog, and as luck would have it I had time to play along - love when that happens.  Nothing better than a chance at winning some Verve stamps :)

Since I am on a Fall themed card making binge, I thought I would make, yes....another card with a maple leaf on it.  Sorry, just can't help myself!  The maple trees on our street are starting to turn colour and I could sit and stare at them for hours.  At the rate I'm using these dies, I may need to get a back up set LOL!

I decided to go rustic and do some distressing on this card because I'm giving it to my hubby for Thanksgiving so he knows how thankful we are to have him - not to mention his great cooking skills which we will get to enjoy this Sunday as we celebrate Thanksgiving!

Loooove pairing this distressed stripes embossing folder with these leaf dies, and it was great fun using some very unloved hardware on the card and adding some twine in lieu of ribbon.  Since most men don't have a clue as to what is "trendy" in the card making world, it was a perfect way to use up some extra supplies.  Mind you, based on the amount of hardware supplies I have, there needs to be a whole lot of masculine card making going on before its all used up LOL!

  6. Heehee, I love your comment about the hardware and guys not knowing what's "trendy" on a card! I'll have to remember that, and maybe I can make a dent in my stash of unloved bits and pieces. Love the distressing on this and use of the leaves on the paper and die cuts.

  9. Love all the elements on your card. Fall is my favorite time of year and one reason is the leaves changing colors. I have maple trees in my yard and love the color changes one day to the next. Great card Love it.

  15. Marisa,

Such a pretty card, I really like the embossed background, adding texture to your card so well. The vintage treatment you've done to your sentiment is a lovely touch as well. So glad you joined in the fun at our challenge this week.
