Happy Birthday Brother
This sketch was a doozy to wrap my mind around! After batting around a few ideas, I decided to go with a masculine card and make my brother a birthday card as the fun design was a great fit.
After completing the card, the white space in the top right hand corner just seemed a bit much so I added the star banner for a little balance and visual interest! Phew, all the April Verve sketches done - with a day to spare none-the-less!
Can't believe we are nearing the end of April! Yikes!! Time to start planning summer activities, booking swimming lessons etc. This time of year just flies by with all the school and extracurricular activities and if I don't do it now, summer will be here before I know it and I don't want to get stuck with two kids saying those fateful words...."I'm bored".
What's In It?
Paper: Early Espresso, Not Quite Navy, Tan
Accessories: Number Dies (PTI), Circle Nesties, Sizzix Star Die, Crimper, Lattice Embossing Folder (SU), Button, Twine, Dimensionals
Love the colors and the masculine design, Marisa! I just love those textured numbers, too! I need to get some number die cuts for sure. Awesome card!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Love the addition of the hanging stars! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteOOH1 Those arrows remind me of sergeant's stripes! So your card looks a little military to me! It's GREAT! How CLEVER you are! xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is quite a leap from your Mother's Day cards. Wow! This is a super sketch and masculine creation. The added stars are just what was called for in that area. Brother will surely think think is a very handsome card. I sure do!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat card. Love the star banner. TFS
ReplyDeleteFun, fun, fun card!!! Love the banner you added!
ReplyDeleteFabulous masculine card -- love that color combo!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun little star banner! You hit the nail on the head with those chevrons!! Fabulous! I love Kristina Werner's saying back at kids who say "I'm bored," "oh, hi Bored, nice to meet you." I guess that's when you bring out the cleaning supplies and then they run to find something to do ;)
ReplyDeleteMe likey!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful job with this sketch!!! It's my last one and this week is busy...not sure I'll have time! Love those textured numbers and the star banner!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome masculine card!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteThis month did seem to fly by! I have until the end of June though before I have to start planning our summer, whew!
That banner is genius! You used a perfect combination of colors and papers...crimping the dark layer was brilliant. I love all that white space!
ReplyDeleteGreat 49th bday for a guy. To the right of the "49" it looks like arrows . . . pointing maybe to 50 next year? That's what I am seeing, anyway. Great card.
ReplyDeleteYour brother will love this. That sketch is tricky. We are running around like crazy and I told my son in a month you will be complaining that you are bored. Enjoy it now.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic, Marisa! I love the star banner you added and the crimped and embossed texture.
ReplyDeleteNeat! This is a TERRIFIC take on that hard to do sketch, Marisa!
ReplyDeleteFabulous masculine card, Marisa...I'm sure that your brother will adore this card! He is 49, right? Not a 5th anniversary of turning 49 or anything? (Haha!)
ReplyDeleteanother fantastic card, he will love this one, especially with the big 49!! obviously he is your much much older brother-lol! :)
