Happy Valentine's Day

SFYTT

Yes, you read right!  I made a Valentine's Day in October LOL!   Not intentionally...it just worked out for this sketch.

This month's Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT) was giving me grief, and after some pondering, the only solution I was able to come up with was to put flowers in the middle and have the leaves sticking over the sides.  Nothing too creative, but that is all my little creative gene could come up with for this sketch so I went with it.

Found this wonderful heart frame in my "reject" container and used it as the starting point for this card.  Kept things on the CAS side by sticking to mainly white, scoring the background panels for a little something, adding three different sized rolled roses, and finished things off with my "cheat" of using the leaves as the two side panels.

Thank for visiting today :)

  8. Marisa, this is so pretty and I love how you handled the sketch. What a great idea to let the flowers and leaves take care of that difficult part. When I first saw this sketch I thought too......how would I make that work. You have inspired me and maybe now I can actually tackle this one too - thanks

  10. I would have walked away from that sketch - LOVE your take on it!
It's often the little things that make a great card - and scoring is one of those things that I forget about - maybe I need to head upstairs to score some C/S!

  15. Ah, you are braver than I! I think I have had that sketch saved on my computer for two weeks and I still shudder every time I look at it. Love the idea of making those side panels leaves! That creative gene was a genius!

I am so glad you are enjoying CCV! I am a bit partial to my church as well. I am so blessed to call it my home. Unfortunately, the new plant is in the opposite direction from me. I already drive about 25 minutes to get to church every week. The new site would be about 40 minutes away. I wish there was a site closer! It would make the commute so much easier (right now it is with traffic, which can mean an hour+ commute at times...).

  22. Wow, this is gorgeous! Love the rolled flowers (I know I've told you before, but it must be true if I keep saying it!) and the lovely sentiment. The row of black pearls just enhances the sentiment beautifully!
