Just Us Girls #160
This week's Just us Girls inspiration Challenge is brought to us by Lisa, and she has selected this gorgeous picture loaded with inspiration. I loved the pumpkins scattered through out so decided to make one.
Last week while strolling through blog land, I saw this wonderful pumpkin card by Jen Del Muro and wanted to use it as a springboard for my card.
I started out with a large circle, added a large oval to the middle of the circle and then a half circle to each side to give my pumpkin a bit of width.
The pumpkin felt a bit "blah" so I embossed the panels to give it a bit of "oomph". Still not happy, so I sponged the edges to give it a bit more definition, only to find the middle panel was very pale against the two outside ones. So in an attempt to rectify that situation, I added some shading to the middle panel but wasn't overly successful....it looks like a dirty pumpkin freshly picked from the field....so that's my story and I'm sticking to it LOL! The leaves are from PTI's acorn set, I hand cut the stem and added some curly cues.
The rest of the Design Team has some wonderful inspiration over on the Just Us Girls blog, so pop on over and check them out. Then put your creative genes to work and add your card to the challenge post on the JUGS blog for the chance to be selected as Chick of the Week :)
I look forward to seeing your inspired creations :)

Wow, Marisa, this looks stunning. Love the added embossing and inking. Isn't it funny how we see the flaws in our own designs where others only see perfection? It's all in the mind LOL.
ReplyDeleteI love this Marisa...the extra texture is awesome!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Marisa. I saw your card in my blog roll on the side of my blog and I just had to stop by and tell you how beautiful I think it is. I love pumpkins and this is superb. The embossing is perfect and I love your embellishments at the top.

Great inspired pumpkin! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how critical we can be of our own work! I don't think this looks like a dirty pumpkin at all! Even if it did, pumpkins are dirty when first picked! I love this card! The embossing, sponging and those curly-q's make this such a fun card! Great job with the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking today that I should make some of these. What a great card. I like that you can use it for any fall occasion. The sponging is perfect. Great job.
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet pumpkin fresh from the field! Reminds me of the fun time we had at the patch. We also learned in our pumpkin studies that the curls are called tendrils...the kids love that!
