Mojo Monday #404

 photo Mojo404pic.jpg

It's tall and skinny week over on the Mojo Monday blog and a chance for us to use this fabulous sketch by Julee.

I'm trying to make a focused effort at using patterned paper I have purchased before buying more and as I dug through my stash I found these wonderful The Sweetest Thing papers by My Mind's Eye.

Coordinated them with this wonderfully bold "dream big" sentiment from Sparkly Dreams, the butterfly from Die Sidekicks and the leaves are the Sprightly Springs die.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

We are cooking to death out here on the West Coast due to a brutal heal wave.   Temperatures have been in the mid 80s plus for three days and predicted to be so for the rest of the week.  Not fun when you don't have AC! We usually get a few hot days over the summer but last year and this year it is turning into a week plus at a time and happening for more than one week in teh summer.  Makes me thankful for the days I get to go to work as we have AC there LOL!

We have also set an all time record for lowest rainfall in May and are most likely going to set an other one for June.  So sad that much of our province is experiencing forest fires so early in the summer, and from the forecast, it is only gonig to continue through the summer.   Fingers crossed we get a nice big rainfall some time soon!

Have a fabulous day and hope your part of the world is cooler than ours!

VLV June 2015 Week 3 Sketch Recap

VLV June 2015 Week 3 photo VLVJun15Week3pic.jpg

Time for this week's Viva La Verve recap!  Charmaine provided this great sketch which allows so many possibilities with that big panel in the middle.

I am still enamored with the newly released The Buzz.  Adore the bee image and felt it was a good match for the picnic type theme the gingham paper produced as bees (along with ants!) are often uninvited guests at a picnic.

Used The Buzz Die Set as well as the Flourished Tag die set for my focal panel and with "joy" being my favorite word, I just had to use this sentiment again.

Want to know whose cards I spotlighted this week, then head on over to the Viva La Verve blog to find out as well as to get a ton of inspiration.

Thanks for popping in today!

Mojo Monday #403

Mojo 403 photo Mojo403pic.jpg

I love Monday because that means it is time for another Mojo Monday sketch!  Even better, there is lots of new Verve Stamps to play with after the five set release last week -whoo hoo!!

I used Floral Notes for my card and the matching die for the large poppies.  Coloured them with Twinkling H2Os, popped them up, added the sentiment and a few sequins for good measure.  The papers are from We R Memory Keepers Chalkboard series.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

We had a very rough weekend as a family as we had to put down our 22 year old cat, Scruffy.   My daughter started praying for a cat when she was four years old, and three years later God brought him to us via new neighbours that moved in next door from California.  He decided our house was much quieter than theirs (they had 3 kids under five), moved in and adopted us as his new family.  We had the joy of having to catch three live birds he brought into the house, ongoing bed wars for bed space, loads of entertainment, comfort, love, constant purrs, lots of snuggles, gratitude and appreciation for the past ten years.  He was our shy, handsome kitty with a huge heart.

I cried like a baby when we took him to the vet to put him down, and needless to say, we all have a very big hole in our hearts right now.  It's amazing how a ten pound, furry critter can take up so much room in your heart.   We love you Scruffy, and miss you dearly...

A few months back I found this honeycomb paper on sale at my LSS and picked it up for no other reason than it was on sale and I figures somewhere along the line I could use it.  Fast forward to The Buzz entering my life and a match in heaven was made - too bad I only got one sheet LOL!   Added the honeycomb die under the bee as well as some Stickles to its wings and I am indeed being joyful :)

VR June 2015 Ps 19:14 photo VRJun2015Ps19PJ.jpg

For my second card today, I used this fabulous Psalm 19:14 Plain Jane.  Going to be humming the song all day now :)   Adore the new Butterfly Dreams die as there are two butterfly dies in it which allows you to use the butterfly with the antennae, one without or to layer them as I did with mine.  Added a few half pearls to the wings for some detailing and focus as they needed to stand out a bit more.

Today's spotlight is shining on The Sparkly Dreams set illustrated by Julee Tilman, as well as the Butterfly Dreams Die Set and the Flourished Tag Die Set.

VR June 2015 Sparkly Dreams photo VRJun2015Sparklypic.jpg

I used this fabulous sentiment from Sparkly Dreams for my card as I just love it.  Such a wonderful reminder to keep dreaming big and pressing on to reach your dreams, especially when the going gets tough and the dream has to shelved for a bit or takes a bit of a detour.

The paper is from Pebbles and I used the Sprightly Springs die set for my garnish under the Spring Fling seam binding bow.  Lots of butterflies fluttering around as they remind me of the caterpillar's dream of being able to fly coming true :)  And a darn dimensional back snuck in under my punched border and I missed it when taking the photo!  Just keeping it real {grin}.

If you have come here from Laurie's blog you are right on track.  If  you just happened upon the Hop, today's hop list is a bit lower down or you can head over to Verve Blog for the full Hop List.

Today's spotlight is shining on The Buzz set illustrated by Julee Tilman, as well as the coordinating The Buzz Die Set and Proverbs 16:24 Plain Jane.

VR June 2015 The Buzz photo VRJun2015Buzzpic.jpg

Since I don't own a hexagon embossing folder (need to do something about that soon!) I opted for my trusty chicken wire folder instead.  Paired it with some dots and this darling beehive and bees from The Buzz set.   Used the co-ordinating dies from the The Buzz die set and opted for this adorable sentiment as it always makes me smile.  Added some Stickles to the bee wings for a bit of sparkle.

VR June 2015 Proverbs 16:24 PJ photo VRJun2015Prov16PJpic.jpg

My second card showcases the Proverbs 16:24 Plain Jane.  In keeping with the honeybee theme, I used the chicken wire embossing folder again and layered up the sentiment panel.   The Scalloped Trim Trio circle die framed in the sentiment, I fussy cut the small bees and added Stickles to the wings to add a bit of zip to the sentiment tag.
