Mojo Monday #463

It's a tall and skinny sketch week this week, and I had great fun creating my hubby's birthday card with it.

I used the arrow image from the Better Together to create the background on the Kraft panel and the Pennant Trim Die for the side panel as some celebratory banners on the card.  I cased this idea from Wanda's fabulous card using this sketch.  The Starry die and Flag It die set completed the embellishments on the card.

Happy to be enjoying a week off work this week :)   I'm in "search and destroy" mode and plan to do a lot of basement purging and the likes as I just haven't had time to anything so far this year due to our very busy schedule.   Started on the weekend and it feels wonderful, especially when the family pitches in as well.   Will also be a busy week getting ready for school to start and doing some campus orientation with my daughter on the weekend as she will be heading to university in September.  Not an overly relaxing week, but I know I will feel tons better once many things are crossed off my To Do List :)

Today I am using the current Viva La Verve sketch for my card (still time to play along and be entered for a chance to win some Verve - perfect timing with the new release too!) along with Kindness Matters and the matching Great Kindness die set.  I love working with fall colours and had a hankering to use them again for this card.    Coloured the flowers with Twinkling H20s and added a touch of seam binding from the Signature Series to finish things off.

Love the verses in this set!  I chose Ephesians 2:10 for my card as it is such a great reminder that not only are we each uniquely created, but in our uniqueness, only we can completely fulfill that for which we were created :)  A great reminder, especially on those days when you don't feel very special.

Verve flowers are da bomb and I am beyond giddy with glee to have yet another wonderful flower to create with, and have matching dies for!!  Thank you, Julee!!  I coloured these gorgeous flowers with Twinkling H20s and added an embossed, brick background for some texture and black leaves for a pop of colour.  A few sequins from the Harvest Gold Sequin Mix were the perfect finishing touch.

One of my favorite passages is Proverbs 31:10-31 so I absolutely love the fact I now have part of it in stamp form in the Scripture Medley 4 set!!!  It was the perfect sentiment to put on a card for my daughter as she will be starting university in just a few weeks and is quite nervous.  A perfect way to reminder her who is her strength and who has her future in the palm of His hands. 

She is a romantic, girly girl, so this paper from MME's In Bloom was a the perfect fit.  I added a flower from one of my favorite Verve sets, Dream Big and the coordinating Scalloped Flowers die set, and accented it with the Sprightly Sprigs dies.  A few pops of red to liven it up a bit and I was good to go.   Can't wait to give it to her :)

Mojo Monday #462

Time to start the week off right and  take the time to create a Mojo Monday card :)

I pulled out a paper pad that has a lot of scraps in it so I can use more of them up - on a mission to use what I have as far as designer paper and it has reminded me of exactly how much paper I have LOL!  Decided to make a coffee card as it has been a while since I have done so and I just love how Julee has created so many coffee/tea sets that you can mix and match!

For my card, the sentiment is from a limited time free digi, the cups are from Get Together and the coordinating Cuppa Tea die set, and the foam/whipped cream on top is the cutest little stamp from Coffee Helps.   Tossed in a few sequins to fill things in and was good to go.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Flamingo

Can't have a warm summer without thinking of flamingos :)   Lots of bright, colour and fun!

I don't own any flamingo stamps or paper so I went with my favorite colour combination of pink and green as per the shirt in the middle of the inspiration photo.  Sorry about the horrible photo....had to work for part of yesterday so the lighting was far from optimal when I took this picture :(

Mojo Monday #461

Summer returned this weekend, with some hot temperatures, so we ended up watching a ton of the Olympics - not an issue for me as I LOVE watching them!  Canadians are doing a great job in the pool and elsewhere - go Canada!!!  Wonderful to see Michael Phelps pulling in a few more medals and setting some more Olympic records (first person to win Gold in the same event over four consecutive Olympics).   Many other wonderful stories too - love it!

I decided to make a wedding/anniversary card with this sketch.  Love using black and white and another colour on cards, so black and white and grey it was.   Created the background on my Scor-Pal, softened things up with the doily and focal frame and added a bit of bling for some celebratory sparkle.

Viva La Verve August Week 1 Sketch Recap

This week, I get to recap this wonderful Viva La Verve sketch by Julee.

I found this delicious Echo Park paper in my stash and just had to use it as it is one of my favorite colour combinations - pink and green.  Plus, I needed an encouraging card in my stash to be able to give to my daughter when she begins to stress out about starting university and has to deal with all the changes and emotions that will bring her way.  She is a worrier, hates change, and gets herself wound up way more than a given situation often calls for, so I wanted to remind her to keep her focus on God's promises to her and not her circumstances.

The sentiment is the Luke 1:45 Plain Jane, and I paired it with my beloved Flutterby die and Heart Quartet die.
