Mojo Monday #420

Mojo 420 photo Mojo420pic.jpg

It's Mojo Monday time and I love using tags on cards so this one was great fun to make!

With the fabulous weather we have been having here, it still feels like summer so I pulled out this delightful Garden Party paper by My little Shoebox.  Flowers and polka dots make me happy {grin}.

Added a couple of hearts and sequins to the sentiment tag and a stitched border for a little something.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Enjoy the sketch and have a fabulous week!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Pretty Pumpkins

Welcome back to our second inspiration challenge of the month.  This time round we are celebrating the season with this fabulous pumpkin inspiration photo.  The LEAD for this challenge will be invited to be a Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge.

In addition, we wish Tenia Nelson all the best as she leaves our team, and offer a warm welcome to Leigh Penner, our newest Crew member!

I adored this inpsiration photo and took it quite literally!  Pulled out papers that matched the colours and patterns on the photo and paper pieced a trio of pumpkins using Verve's Bountiful Harvest.

Since I am on a bit of a square card binge at the moment, I used this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for my card, arranged my pumpkins and added a die cut "thanks" using PTI's word die.

Viva la Verve October Week 2 Sketch

VLV Oct 2015 Week 2 photo VLVOct15Wk2pic.jpg

It's recap time for Viva La Verve's October Week 2 sketch by Maureen.

Since I still had Kind Words out on my desk, I decided to use it again.  This is one of my all time favorite quotes and it fit perfectly on the Tagged Rectangle Die which I stamped in VersaMark with one of the stamps from Tag Time for a subtle grid pattern.  Added a butterfly and some leaves and then a double banner to balance the diagonal flow.

We'd love for you to play along with the Viva La Verve sketches.   Verve stamps are not required, but we love to see them.  The more times you enter the greater your chances of winning a $100 gift certificate to the Verve store :)

Thanks for popping by and if you want to get more inspiration for this wonderful sketch, hop on over to the Viva La Verve blog and check out the gallery.

Mojo Monday #419

Mojo 419 photo Mojo419pic.jpg

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian followers!!

This is one of my favorite weekends of the year -- a time to give thanks in abundance :)  Thankfulness is something I do on a daily basis all year round, for things great and small that occur, but it always brings me great joy to be able to share with and listen to what each family member is thankful for over the past year.

Ann Voskamp's book A Thousand Gifts is a fabulous read and a great way to keep a journal of what you are thankful for on a daily basis.  Nothing better than reviewing your written thanks at the end of the year as it is a powerful reminder of how much one truly has to be thankful for, especially when the world we live in very much wants you to focuses on what you don't have instead of what you do.

For my card today, I used my life verse of Philippians 1:6 found in Scripture Medley 3.  I framed it with a doily and added a few leaves from the Sprightly Sprigs die set.  I needed a punch of colour so I added a red button and some "berries" to my leaf sprigs.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Have a great day, enjoy the sketch, and take a few moments to reflect on all you have to be thankful for - it's good for the soul :)

Love making black and white cards, and since I haven't made one for a while, it was great fun creating this card, especially with the added glam requirement :)  I found this delightful shimmer paper at my local dollar store and knew it would be the focal aspect of my card.  With Christmas quickly approaching (sorry, had to throw that out there LOL), it was the perfect opportunity to make a some sparkly trees and create a snowy scene.   The trees are from the Winter Fun die set, I used the smallest star from the Starry die set for the start studded sky.  Added sparkly snow and then outlined it with some bling.  Couldn't quite capture the glitter and glam in my photo, but trust me, those trees sparkle up a storm as does the "snow" and the row of bling.

Need a little inspiration? Check out the blogs linked below to see what the other Divas did with the challenge! It's sure to be a treat, and speaking of treats, we've got a prize for one lucky commenter along the hop! Check out the Verve Blog today for all the prize info and deadlines!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge Going Batty Reminder Post

CC Oct 7, 2015 photo CCOct7picA.jpg

We are half way through our Going Batty challenge over at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge, and this is my second take on the photo.

The colour combination in this photo is a yummy one so I used it for my card once again and combined it with one of the October sketches from Page Maps.

Added some woodgrain embossing to pick up the wood panelling, a doily for the dainty tree leaves, and a trio of elements for the focal sentiment panel as per the trio of bats in the photo.  A fun little card to be able to tuck in with a gift for a friend.

Looking forward to celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend :)  We will have a small group this time round, but that means a more relaxed time and less prep and hubbub which is exactly what I could use right about now after a very busy September and early October!  Turkey soup is one of my favorites and I can't wait to make some!  Always a great freezer meal for those days when you have nothing prepared for dinner LOL!

Enjoy your day and would love to have you join our challenge if you have done so already!

Viva La Verve October Week 1 Sketch Recap

VLV Oct 2015 Wk 1 photo VLVOct15Wk1pic.jpg

Another fabulous sketch by Julee this week, and I get to recap it :)

While digging through my paper stash I tripped across this Basic Grey paper I got a few years back and decided to use it (amazing what you find when you sort through things!).  Paired it with one of my favorite sets, Kind Words.  Adore this sentiment from the set and the flower is always a great one to shadow stamp in the background.

A touch of seam binding from Verve's Signature Collection and a touch of sponging around the edges to soften things up a bit called it a card.

You can check out who I have spotlighted this week as well as get additional inspiration for the sketch over on the Viva La Verve blog.

Thanks for popping in and have a fabulous day!

Mojo Monday #418

Mojo 418 photo Mojo418pic.jpg

It's the first Monday of the month and that means it is contest time over on the Mojo Monday blog.  Create a card using this sketch, link it up, and you could be selected as a winner of a Verve stamp set of your choice.  The more entries the greater chance of winning.

My son's soccer coach turned 60 on Saturday and the team is presenting him with a cake and gift after tonight's practice.  Consequently, I need to make a birthday card and the big panel on this sketch was a perfect fit to display a big "6 - 0"  on the front {grin}.  Was thrilled to have the word "big" from the Tag Time set to add to the 60 :)

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Have a great day and enjoy the sketch!

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Coffee Lover's Blog Hop 2 photo CoffeeLoversHopPicB.jpg

Still in love with Verve's new Latte Love Digi Freebie (available only until October 15th) so had to make another card with it for the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop.

Used Stampin' On Tuesday's sketch for my card, crimped and sponged the kraft panel, added a yellow doily and put the sentiment from Latte Love on a tag from Verve's Flourished Trim die set.  Can't do anything pumpkin spiced as allergic to the spices, but can definitely enjoy them on cards :)  Could roll around in these fall colours they make me so happy, especially if I have a latte in hand LOL!

Have a fabulous day, and thanks for popping in today!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Going Batty

Welcome back to our first inspiration challenge of the month. This time round we are hanging out and going a bit batty {grin}.  The LEAD for this challenge will be invited to be a Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge.

CC Oct 15, 2015 photo CCOct1pic.jpg

I used this week's Paper Players sketch for my card and since I am not a huge Halloween fan, I opted to go with the colours in the picture as my inspiration - the white and yellow from the house and brown and touches of green from the tree.  Picked up on the flying theme with a butterfly in lieu of a bat and my hanging object became the vellum leaves.
