Mojo Monday #473

Mojo 472 photo Mojo472picA.jpg

It's the first Monday of the month which means it is contest time over on the Mojo Monday blog and Julee has provided this lovely sketch for us to work with.

I am on a roll with the Christmas cards and am loving the newly released Beyond Measure and matching Christmas spirit die set.  The inspiration for this card came from Diva Laurie's fabulous card here.   I just love how she created a wreath with one of the sprigs in the set so I used a few of the different ones to create mine.

I adore aqua and brown together and as fate would have it, they are Verve's colours - a match made in heaven :)   I layered the two sprig images, added a dove and then fudged the sketch a bit with my ribbon and bell bow.  Added a touch of silver cording and silver half pearls for a bit of sparkle and called it a card.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Hard to believe we are in November already!  Working hard at getting all my Christmas shopping done in the next few weeks so I can enjoy December.   Started this years ago and it has taken so much stress away and allowed me to deeply enjoy the Christmas Season.  Have a fabulous week and look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery!

Verve November 2016 Release Spotlight Hop ~ Day 3

Verve Stamps November 2016 Spotlight Hops

Welcome back to Day 3 of Verve's November Release Spotlight Hops!  It's an exciting day as there's new Verve in the store this morning! Two beautiful new sets and coordinating die sets just released and they're all available in the shop right now. To celebrate our new release, we're putting on another blog hop with a fabulous giveaway!

Today's featured focus is designer's choice, so you might just sneak a peek at a whole bunch of must-haves!

If you have come here from Tenia's blog you are right on track.  If you just happened upon the Hop, you can check the hop list below to get caught up!

I had some fun with embossing paste while creating this card.  You need snow to make a snowman so I used my polka dot stencil to create my background, added a big snowflake behind the focal tag and tied things in with the sentiment.  We do not get snow often here on the coast so it is a bit of a disaster driving around here when it does (not for me but many others who are not used to driving in it) but I sure love the beauty of it and always fun to make snowmen with the kids even though they are kids as you are never too old to make snowmen :)

Want to win some shiny new Verve? Today's prize is a BIG one. We'll be picking a random commenter on one of the hop spots below to win our ENTIRE new release! So be sure to leave a little comment on all the blogs below to increase your chances! Check out the Verve Blog today for the full hop list and all the prize info and deadlines!

Love the foliage stamps and matching dies that allow you to create wonderful clusters, and the mix of sentiments and images in this set is fabulous!!  I used a Retro sketch for my card, added some snowflakes and had fun creating the foliage cluster.  Finished things off with some gold bells for good measure {grin}.

Despite the fact this set is a bit on the whimsical side, I went for a clean and elegant look with crisp, sharp lines and a few pops of colour!  Yes, I am a rebel at heart LOL!  I embossed the tree image in gold and topped them with some red bling for a pop of colour.  Added my all time favorite word "JOY" because joy is what Christmas means to me - joy on so many levels, but one which stems first and foremost from a baby born in a stable, laying in a manger.  Easy to duplicate and very mailable too.

Guesting for the Colour Throwdown

I am excited to share that I have the honour of being the Guest Designer for the Colour Throwdown the month of November!  Not only that, but I have the added bonus being a fellow DT members and cyber friends with several of the ladies on this team.  Card making cyber friends rock :)

CTD 417 photo CTD417pic.jpg

I loved this weeks' colour combination, and when I saw the pumpkins in the back of the truck, I immediately went to the newly released pumpkin set and dies by Verve Stamps.  Love these happy pumpkin images!  Combined them with some Reverse Confetti and PTI dies to create my card.

Now for the CTD rules:  Once you've finished your card or other paper crafted project, add a direct link to your creation using the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of the Colour Throwdown post.  And, don't forget to use the keyword CTD417 if you upload your project to an online gallery, or hashtag on social media with #ctd417 and/or #colourthrowdown.  Challenge guidelines are in the right sidebar on the Colour Throwdown Challenge Blog in case you have any questions.

Noted below are the Design Team members who are sure to have lots of inspiration for you!

Barbara Anders - Paper Pursuits

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge ~ Felt

We are back with another fabulous fall themed challenge over at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

CC Nov 1, 2016 photo CCNov1picB.jpg

I just loved the colour pallet and was gushing at the fact there were leaves involved as I have not been able to make enough leaf cards this year!  Out came my PTI maple leaf die and my sorely  neglected felt stash so I could recreate the leaves on the photo.  The Aida cloth background lead me to emboss some kraft to get a similar look and I also added a circle as per the cross stitch ring - I was on a roll ;)   A few pops of dark brown for colour along with a button finished things off.  A masculine card for the men that can handle a twine bow LOL!  Or, Simply remove the twine and add some brads to the top right corner - all depends which guy ends up getting the card.

 FELT

Guest Designer

I am very much enjoying the maple leaves on our street as it is lined with maple trees.  So many gorgeous colours and our "burning bush" in the front flower bed is also screaming Fall - love it!  Must remind myself of the beauty when I have to rake all those maple leaves off the grass after they fall LOL!

Mojo Monday #472

Mojo 472 photo Mojo472pic.jpg

Time for some square card fun!!  Always a joy to work with a square sketch.  Not sure what it is about them, but really enjoy them.  Maybe it is the anal side of me coming through LOL!

For some reason I was in the mood to make a Christmas card so that is the direction I went in.  A big old doily to start, then a big snowflake and lastly the sentiment panel with another snowflake to balance things off.  Lots of blues for that cool, winter, snowy feeling and a touch of sparkle for good measure {grin}.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Our weekends continue to be a blur with tomorrow being November 1st - meeep!!!   I have resigned myself to the fact life won't slow down this year until Christmas (sorry I said the "C" word {grin}.   It has been that type of year.   Already looking forward to time off over Christmas, jammie puzzle making days and time as a family - all priceless :)

Viva La Verve October Week 2 Sketch Recap

In addition, today is recap time for the current sketch over on the Viva La Verve blog. This week Lesley has created this sketch for us to work with.

I fudged the three circles a bit by using three pots from Potter's Clay and the matching Pottery die set.  I just love  working with Fall colours as they always make me happy!  Added a bit of texture with the crimped panel and grounded things with the twine.

You can see which cards I have spotlighted from our gallery as well as get lots more inspiration over on the Viva La Verve blog.

Thanks for popping in today and have a fabulous weekend!

Mojo Monday #471

Mojo 471 photo Mojo471pic.jpg

It's Mojo Monday time once again.  Love starting my week off with a great sketch :)

When I saw the stars on the sketch, I immediately went in to masculine card mode and from there I decided to make a baby boy card. Pulled out Birthday Bots which I haven't used for a long time and went to work.  Stamped my favorite "bot", fussy cut him out, coloured him and then used the Starry die set and a star die for the star cluster.  Needed to fill in some white space so added the number "3" to the focal panel and finished things off with a banner from the Flag It die set and a button.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Have fun with the sketch and I look forward to seeing your take on the sketch in the gallery.
