Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Snow Cone

August is a warm, summer month and our Snow Cone Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge is a perfect fit!  It has me wanting to go make one for myself and the kids as our weather is heating up here.

I fiddled around with a few ideas, all of which didn't work, so I opted to use the colours instead.  Birthday cards are always in high demand so I created one using Verve's Birthday To You Plain Jane, Banner Die and Flag It die set.

Have fun with the challenge and I look forward to seeing your creations in the Curtain Call gallery.

Mojo Monday #459

Mojo 459 photo Mojo459pic.jpg

It's contest week over on the Mojo Monday blog!  The more entries we have the more prizes are up for grabs!

Julee created this wonderful sketch for us to work with.  You can dress it up or keep it simple, totally up to you :)

I used some of my favorite Stella and Rose MME papers and this wonderful flower from Dream Big and sentiment from Bloom and Grow.  I triple layered the banner for a little interest and diagonal flow.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Lots of excitement this past weekend.  My daughter and I drove to Kamloops (3.5 hour drive from home) so she could take her "N" driver's test.  With the population density down here, there was a 3 month wait before we could get her scheduled in for a test!  That meant October and with her needing to drive to university in September, that wasn't going to work so a road trip it was :)  We went up bright and early so she would have 2 hours of driving time in the area to become familiar with it before her exam.  Happy to report, she passed and can now drive on her own.  Next test, in two years time so she can get her "adult" driver's license.   Shudder to think when I was her age you could take your exam a month after writing the written exam!  It is a much better process now, that's for sure!

Paddington, our kitty, ended up at the vet because he had blood in his pee.  Getting him there was quite the experience!!  He would NOT go into the cat carrier, no matter how we tried to get him in.  That meant option B, which was a large box.  He got his head out a few times so we ended up having to tape the box shut and add a few air holes.  Fur was everywhere and thankfully nobody got in the way of his claws in the process.  Little rotter!! Hoping it is just a UTI and nothing more serious.  Won't know until blood work and culture from his urine results come back later this week.  Fingers crossed that is all it is.

And today, my "baby" turns 16!!  Yikes, where does the time go...??!!!  On to round two of diving lessons!

Wishing you a great week!

Mojo Monday #458

 photo Mojo458pic.jpg

Last Monday of the month and not sure where July has gone! Actually, not sure where the year has gone LOL!  It has been a blitz and a blurr since last December and I am hoping there will be a little down time in August as the Fall is always busy.

Today's sketch took a little thinking time but once I chose my papers I was good to go.  Always in need of some birthday cards so pulled out some old Stella and Rose papers by MME, the Happy Birthday Plain Jane and Happy Place set along with the coordinating Happy Doodles die set.  A few buttons for some texture and embellishments and I was good to go.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Our summer weather has returned so looking forward to lots of evening walks with my daughter and some fun in the sun - maybe even a beach day as it is so close and we seldom go there!  Have a fabulous day and I look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery :)

Mojo Monday #457

 photo Mojo457 pic.jpg

This week's Mojo Monday sketch was a bit tricky for me but once I broke it down I was good to go.

Needed a card for a friend who is battling prostate cancer and this seemed like a great layout for a masculine card.  I used Just Breathe for the sentiments, added the corners to frame the sentiments, a few brads and an embossed distressed stripes background for the masculine side of things.  The heart paper fits the sentiment so went with it ;)

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Unicorn

It's time for the second Curtain Call Challenge of the month and we have this fabulous photo to inspire us.   In addition, I want to give a warm welcome to Tammy Hershberger, our newest Crew Member!  Tammy's work is fabulous and I am sure you will love seeing her creations :)

 photo CCJuly15pic_1.jpg

I do not own any unicorn stamps of paper so I opted to go with the lovely, soft colour combination for my card.  I kept to a baby theme as per the stuffed unicorn and used my favorite baby set by Verve called To The Moon.  I chose this adorable raffi and paired it with the Smallest Things Plain Jane and the Pennant Trim and Heart Quartet die sets.

Below is a list of our designers and guest designer Anni Lerche.  Lots of wonderful inspiration to be had!

Mojo Monday #456

Mojo 456 photo Mojo456pic.jpg

It's skewed panel time over on the Mojo Monday blog.

I need a birthday card for my son who tuns 16 in August and took advantage of this sketch to make his card.  I need a soccer image or two as he is big time into reffing soccer, but alas, I don't have any so I ended up with a somewhat nautical theme in red, white and blue.  Made the 16 hard to miss and added a few stars in the corners.

For my card I used the vertical, colour blocked stripes on the pillows and the colour combination.  I added a doily as per the doily images on the carpet, and then layered my beloved Jotted Heart die with the Elegant Leaf die which was over stamped with the coordinating leaf image from Bloom and Grow.    Next came the Scroll Die with over stamped with the scroll image from Die Sidekicks and sentiment from Great Friend and a red heart using the Heart Quartet die set.  The ribbon is from the Truly Madly Deeply Ribbon Collection.  Think this is a record for me as I used eight Verve goodies on one card - a wonderful testament to how well Verve sets and dies coordinate :)

Need a little inspiration? Check out the blogs linked below to see what the other Divas did with the challenge! It's sure to be a treat, and speaking of treats, we're giving away a $30 gift voucher to Verve to one random commenter along the hop.  Just leave a little love as you hop about for a chance to win!

VLV July Week 1 Sketch Recap

VLV July 2016 Wk 1 photo VLVJul16wk1pic.jpg

It's recap time for July's' first Viva La Verve sketch of July and I get to recap Julee's wonderful sketch.

I mixed some Basic Grey and MME papers with the "beautiful" word die from Verve's Beautiful Flowers  layered on top of the large  Stitched Pennants die.  The heart die from the Scalloped Trim Trio die set framed the bottom nicely and I and finished things off with my favorite butterfly from Petals and Wings.   A touch of swiss dots in the background and a ribbon finished things off.

You can check out who I spotlighted for this sketch over at the Viva La Verve blog as well as additional inspriation from the gallery.

Thanks for popping in and have a great day!

Mojo Monday #455

Mojo 455 photo Mojo455pic.jpg

It's not only the 4th of July today (Happy 4th of July to all my American followers!!), but it is also contest time over on the Mojo Monday blog as it is the first Monday of the month.

I used one of my favorite colour combinations for this card:  pink and green.  Also made it on the girly side by adding a sparkly butterfly with my favorite Flutterby die and a few sequins from the Shine Bright sequin mix on the sentiment panel which uses Poppy Birthday and the Banner Bundle die set.  May very well be my daughter's birthday card as she loves pink and won't turn down sparkly things (especially if it is in the form of jewellery LOL)!

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

The more entries we have the greater your chances of winning some Verve!  Have a fabulous day and I look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery :)

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Cherry Bomb

It's the first of July, which means it is Canada Day, AND my 20th wedding anniversary!!!  Seconded by first Curtain Call Challenge of the month.

CC July 1, 2016 photo CCJuly1pic_2.jpg

I used this challenge to create an anniversary card for my hubby as the colours were masculine (I tweaked the blue to a navy blue rather than the bright blue) and were perfect for creating him a card.   Hard to believe it has been 20 years!  Where does the time go??!!   We married later in life and have been blessed with two kids, ups, downs, new business ventures, challenges, loss, celebrations, victories, and a whole lot more over the course of those twenty years.  The anchor in the midst of it all has been first and foremost been our love for God, as well as our love and respect for each other and always, always ensuring we communicate with each other.
