Birthday Blessings For My SIL

Verve

Diva Teresa came up with a great sketch for the fifth week in August.  I decided to use it to make a birthday card for my sister-in-law as she likes girly cards.

Some K & Co. paper started me off and the rest fell together from there.  I had my first crack at using the MFT Rolled Rose dies which I have had for some time but didn't have a paper quilling tool to help roll them as Mike's no longer sells them.  Thankfully a good friend of mine gave me an extra one she had :)  My poor roses look past their prime...I'm obviously in need of more practice!!  Good thing  my SIL isn't a card maker and won't scrutinize them too much ;)

Off to get my daughter's locker today.  She is moving into high school this year (eighth grade up here in Canada as we have no middle school in our area) and not at all happy about it LOL!  An introvert who hates change....doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that combination out :)  Good news is we have her class schedule so we can walk through the school and find out where each of her classes will be ahead of time.  Walk down memory lane for me as I attended that school the second year it was open...yes, I'm  feeling old!!

Have a blessed day :)

Autumn Thank You

Verve

Today's card uses Verve Diva Charmaine's August sketch.  Loved the simplicity of it as you can dress it up or dress it down :)

I jumped at the chance to create a Fall card as I just LOVE the colours - they give me warm fuzzies.  Plus I wanted any excuse to be able to use my PTI leaf dies again - can't get enough of them!

With September around the corner and Canadian Thanksgiving only about 6 weeks away, I figured it was a great way to get a jump on some thank you cards.  Susan over at Simplicity blog has a great challenge issued to anyone who wants to participate - to create a Gratitude Collection of cards that you can send to people at Thanksgiving, thanking them for what they mean to you.  So many times we think nice things but quite often it stops there, with the thought.   Can't think of a better way to express your appreciation for someone than to send them your words in a hand made card :) hat better way to express your appreciation for someone than to send them a hand made card :)

Basement clean up Part II today.   Kids are still with me so that's good!  Booster Juice bribe worked LOL! One run to the Sally Ann down and another one today.  Can you believe I had a stash of about 50 puzzles!    I looooove puzzles but the only time of year I indulge the art of making them is over Christmas Break.  It's a family tradition and quite often we make at least six 1000 piece puzzles in ten days.  Okay, it's an addiction, but at least I'm not the only one addicted to them LOL!

Thanks for popping in today and know I am thankful for all of you who come and visit and leave me some love (((hugs))).

Multiple Panels, Oh My!

Verve

Diva Shannan's sketch had me in a bit of a snit to start with due to all the panels, but then I remembered my challenge to myself of using multiple DPs on a card so I dove into my Stella Rose stash and went to work.

A bit of mixing and matching and I was able to get things worked out to my satisfaction.  I rounded the corners of the cream mat to match the die and fill in the corners a bit.

Phew, glad that one is done (sorry Shannan!).  Tough sketch to get the old mojo going on once again after a few weeks off.  Back tomorrow and the next day with the two other August sketches I haven't done yet.

Today is clean the basement day (can you hear my kids groaning from where you are LOL!).  A trip to the recycle depot, Sally Ann with used clothes etc. and then off to get some Booster  Juice and a video - my "mommy incentive" for the kids to help with the basement ;)   Have a glorious day!

Java Joy

Verve

Well, I have finally come to the end of my Guest Diva cards.  Appropriately, I am typing up this post while enjoying a Grande Non-Fat Decaf Latte from Starbucks :)  Loooove lattes and this fabulous Better With You set by Verve is a perfect set for creating and sending any coffee or tea lover you know a card.  It is full of wonderful coffee and tea images and has great coordinating sentiments.

I created the background by stamping the Java image multiple times and embossing it with clear EP so it was a bit more prominent.  Then I had fun distressing the edges and using some fun Stella Rose DPs and half pearls to finish things off.

It's hard to believe we are into the last week of summer!  This summer just flew by and we have many wonderful memories to reminisce about for years to come - what more can you ask for :)  Hope your summer was just as enjoyable and you are able to squeeze in one last summer BBQ or quick get away before the Labour Day weekend is over.

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #84

Verve

Holy moly, these are some bright colours LOL!  I struggled with is colour combo for a long time...nothing seemed to be working for me so I decided to go CAS and use this FTL which was combined with this week's  Cas-ual Fridays challenge.

That being said, I'm not totally happy with the CAS outcome either - ugh!!  Ever have one of those challenges?  Think my mojo was left in the pool or ran away after all the water main issues and back to school shopping we have to get done.  Yah, I know - sorry excuses LOL!  Let's just say Colour Challenge 1 - Marisa 0.  Will do better next week, promise :)

I know the rest of the Design Team has some fabulous cards for your inspiration and they didn't struggle the way I did :)

Beautiful You

Verve

Diva Andrea's "Diva Dust" kept falling so I hoarded it and made another card attempting her style.  K & Co paper, multiple nestie layers, ribbon, lace, pearls, a big flower, sheer ribbon and some twine to finish things off.

I absolutely LOVE this script from Verve's You and I set.  Totally elegant and right up my alley.   Needless to say, I can't wait to use this set again.  Until then, I'm stretching out my Guest Diva Verve watermark as long as I can so the memory lingers just a little bit longer... happy sigh :)

Have a glorious day!

You Are A Treasure

I just loved Diva Laurie's sketch in July so took the opportunity to use it for one of my Guest Diva cards.  I also took a bit of a walk on the "Diva Andrea" side :)  She regularly incorporates flowers on her cards and they always look amazing so I thought I would give it a whirl.

A while back I won some gorgeous Prima flowers along with some fabulous ribbon on Sharon Johnson's (No Time To Stamp) Stamp Simply Blog Hop, and this gorgeous one was calling my name.  I added some punched Martha Stewart leaves and some flower "thingies" I got from the dollar store (have NO clue what they are called...can anyone enlighten me?!).  A crimped version of Verve's Jotted Heart die and a touch of lace all on some Recollections DP run through with a Labels 16 nestie and I was thrilled with the outcome.  I also pulled out my long neglected Weathered background stamp from Stampin' Up! to give the blush blossom panel a little something.  Finished things off with the Martha Stewart border punch and monarch butterfly punch.  The outcome made me smile and I hope you like it too :)

We are focused on back to school shopping this week as well as catching up with a few friends we don't get to see that often when school is in so things are still busy.  The best news is the water main repairs are all done and now all we have to do is get a concrete guy in to put our driveway back together where they dug it up to get to the water main.  Soooooo glad to have that over and done with and it is such a treat to be able to deal with a company that does such a good job, despite all the set backs.  I'd recommend them to anyone!

Know that you are all a treasure to me and I so appreciate all your wonderful comments, support and encouragement (((hugs))).  Have a great day : )

Just Be U

Verve

With all the water main issues plus kids in swimming lessons and me being exhausted after swimming 45 minutes of laps five days a week, I haven't had the mojo to create.  That being said, I'm dipping into some of the my Guest Diva cards I made for the actual Verve Release party that were not posted here on my blog.  If you have seen them before, my apologies. If not, hope you enjoy them :)

I was giddy with joy when this card was done because I actually used two different DPs on one card.  Not a big deal for many of you, but little old me has an issue using multiple DPs one one card, my newest nemesis now that the skewed panel thing is somewhat under control (did I just say that??!!  Diva Dust, is wonderful stuff).  Think this issue is mostly due to the fact that I don't have a lot of actual paper pads which have naturally coordinating DPs so I have to do the mixing and matching myself.  Nothing like making it hard on myself, huh?!!  Onward and upward I go :)

I just love this "U" die from Verve - so many wonderful words to use it with.  I also love this sentiment and try to live by it daily.   I don't like all things about me, insert very highly competitive female as well as a very direct communication style when focused or passionate about an issue, two traits that aren't exactly "feminine" and get me into trouble at times.  However,  God made me the way I am for a reason and I am embracing those areas in a deeper way as move up the age scale and approach the next decade of my life.  That is why Philippians 1:6 is one of my favorite verses - I am a work in progress :D

We are in the home stretch with the water main issues.  Hooked up to the city water line again and no longer attached to our neighbours water.  They just have to come and do some back filling on the huge holes they had to dig on the side of our driveway.  Needless to say, I'm doing laundry as I type as we have a huge back log.

Off to church this morning and then it's family pasta sauce making day.  We bought 50 pounds of Roma tomatoes and other veggies for the sauce from a local farmer to make the sauce.  I'm allergic to oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary - basically all the aromatic herbs - so we have to make our own.  We have a great production line that gets it all done in about an hour and a half and that gives us about 40 large yogurt containers of sauce to freeze and enjoy until we make next summer's batch.  Have already frozen my 50 pounds of blueberries so we are no doubt going to be tight on freezer space for a little bit, but it's all worth it!

Have a glorious day and thanks for popping in today!

Inkspirations Sketch #83

In all honesty, this sketch gave me grief!!   I couldn't wrap my mind around it until I flipped it to a horizontal position.  Once I did that, I was ready to go - phew!

I used some wonderful MME Stella Rose DP and of course, some of the stamps from Verve's recent release.  Just love this scalloped frame and graph paper, not to mention the fabulous flower die...happy sigh...  :)

I made this card for my BIL and SIL who's cabin we stayed at for three days while on vacation in Alberta.  It is actually more for my SIL as I think I'll make a separate one for my BIL since he actually managed to burned my little energizer bunny sun out, and that is NOT easy to do LOL!

The rest of the Design Team has some fabulous cards for your inspiration.

Our water main issues continue...whatever could go wrong has - couldn't split the pipe as it wasn't straight but routed around the furnace, water valve on the city shut off popped off so the 5 x 10 foot hold filled with water and the city had to be called to turn off the water for the neighbourhood so they could pump out the water from the hold and put the valve back on.  Adult complex across the street had multiple members come to complain they never got told about it and the poor guys working on it were beyond frazzled.  Thankfully, that part of the problem was fixed in half an hour.  Hopefully (fingers and toes crossed) they will have the rerouted water pipe into the house inserted and everything completed by Saturday.  What a week it has been!  Thank heavens for the fabulous weather!!

Thanks for stopping bye today.  Have a great weekend :)

XOXO I Love you

Verve

This card is one of the cards I made as a Guest Diva for Verve' s Anniversary Release and it uses one of Diva Amber's sketches.

I found some fun Bazzill DP and accented it with a pop of red.  The frame was easy to make as it is the new Rounded Scallop Frame Die.
I even skewed the panel all on my own !!  What is the world coming to LOL!  Think some Diva Dust landed on me as I got to rub shoulders with them behind the scenes for the release.  Bring in the truck load of the stuff I say :)

You can check out the entire release here and take advantage of the specials for the current release!  In addition, the rest of the Verve store is on sale so a great time to stock up on some Verve Stamps!!

As for me, just three more days of swimming lessons and smelling like chlorine.  I must say I totally love swimming and the 45 minutes a day of laps is doing wonders for toning this aging body :)   It is also helping me cope with the stress of our broken water main to the house.   Unfortunately the damage is on our side of the line and not the city's so we have to foot the bill.  Cause:  some piping that was put in that should not have been used - was totally brittle and has no flex, possibly some that had been left out in the sun before being installed.  When they checked the other side of the water meter to see if the same piping was used on that side, unfortunately they found the same type of piping so we decided to replace it as well since everything is already dug up (nice biiiig hole in our driveway), which means the bill gets even larger.  Needless to say, my stamping budget is out the window...hate crooked contractors!!!

On the bright side, summer has finally decided to show it's face here on the West Coast and we are basking in some glorious sunshine and amazing weather and it feels good :)

Have a fabulous day!

A Day To Remember...

Verve

I am  having a Verve hang over LOL!  The release party was amazing and a wonderful culmination to three weeks of living, breathing, stamping and creating cards for the Verve Sneak Peeks and Release Party.

I have now rerintroduced myself to my family (I think they are taking me back LOL), and after cleaning up the aftermath of my last three weeks of creativity (aka: messy craft room), I am sitting here ever so thankful for the wonderful opportunity Julee provided me through being a Guest Diva for the amazing Four Year Anni-Verve-sary release.

The Divas are one seriously talented group of ladies, and I gathered as much "Diva Dust" as I could after being able to partake in this release and rub shoulders with them behind the scenes.  So thank you once again Julee and Diva's for providing me with not only a Day to Remember, but an experience to remember too!  This card is for you (((HUGS)))!!

Anni-VERVE-sary Release Spotlight Hop - Day 6

** To view my Inkspirations Post just scroll down to the second post of the day **

Verve

Yeah!!! Today is Day 6 of the Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hop and even more exciting is the fact that tonite is the Release Party over on the Verve Forum!  Can a Friday get any better?!!  You won't want to miss the full reveals of all the wonderful sets Julee has created for this release as well as all the fun conversations in the forum.

Today's set also has coordinating dies - can you say love :)   For my first card I used Diva Maureen's Verve sketch from a few weeks back and one of the wonderful sentiments from Making A Statement which expresses my heart regarding the wonderful opportunity I have had to be a Guest Diva during this release.  What an amazing experience this has been and the party is still to come!!!  Yes, Marisa is a very happy Guest Diva :)

Verve

My second card is a more CAS card and uses this adorable flower and bird image along with the matching Loopy Blooms Die Set.  If I had felt, I would have made a felt flower, but no such luck so I opted for a polka dotted one instead when I tripped across this fun DP.  I just love polka dots and am a sucker for pink, black and white cards so it was a match made in heaven.  I created a stem using All in A Row and built my flower around it.  Lots of white space for a clean, crisp look and that little bird as the finishing touch.  Sorry about the dark picture :(  Had a hard time getting a white on white shot and I finally gave up after an insane amount of times trying to get a good picture.

Lots of eye candy yet to come so here is today's Hop List.

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #82

Verve

Keesh has come up with a delightful colour combo once again.  When I first saw the colour combination, a masculine card came to mind so that is what I went with.  I combine it with Jen's August SFTYY and created a Verve Sneak Peek card.  Gotta love a three-for card :)  I had great fun creating this card and think I'll use it for hubby's birthday in September or keep it in my stash for when he needs a pick me up.

Can I tell you how much I LOVE these new dies and stamps from Verve!!  Oh my!!  Julee has totally out done herself this time round.  I used the Tagged Rectangle and I Heart U die sets along with the tag sentiment from Tag Time.  If you have missed out on the sneak peeks this week and/or just found out about tonite's release party being held on the Verve Forum over at SCS, just head on over to the Verve Blog for all the details. You could win some of the new sets :)   Needless to say, I'm booked tonite LOL!

Anni-VERVE-sary Release Spotlight Hop - Day 5

Verve

Can you believe we are on Day 5 of the Anni-VERVE-sary Spotligh Hops. Just one more sleep until the Release Party!!  It's going to be one happening party so hope you can join us!

Today's sneak peek includes some wonderful dies and matching stamps.  One can never have enough dies, and Julee has created a wonderful set for your stamping pleasure.

My first card uses the Curvy Bookplate Die and the coordinating stamp from Tag Time.  Love the shape of this die, and as you can tell from my card, there are many other Verve sentiments that will fit in this wonderful shape.  I used Diva Andrea's Verve Sketch for this week and kept things rather CAS because I just loved this DP and wanted to show it off.

I had a second card all made for today, then realized it uses Friday's new Inkspirations Challenge, for which I am a DT member, so I can't post it until tomorrow - silly me!!  I'm blaming the chlorine from the pool for this mess up - at least that is my story and I'm sticking with it LOL!  Kids are in 45 minute swimming lessons and I do laps while they have their lessons so I am once again donning my "eau de chlorine" rather potently!!  Must have pickled my brain a bit too LOL.  Darn it all anyway, as I loved how my card turned out.  Guess you'll have to wait until the release party to see it unless you are a regular follower ;)

I'm sure the rest of the Divas don't have chlorine brain, and I know they have some amazing cards to showcase today's sneak peeks so here is today's Hop List.

1. Julee9. Marisa {Guest}

Anni-VERVE-sary Release Spotlight Hop - Day 4

Verve

Welcome to Day 4 of the Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops.  We are half way through and working our way towards Friday's Release Party, and what a party it is going to be!!  Hope you can join us :)

Today's sets are all about coffee and tea with many wonderful coordinating sentiments.

My first card is from the Sip and Savor set and I used the From the Heart Die Set for the two hanging hearts and in keeping with the theme, punched them out of a Starbucks coffee sleeve as they are perfect for corrugated images and much less expensive that the ones you have to buy!  Bet then never though of this market LOL!  Best part is there are four sizes of hearts so you can use the one that fits your card best :)

In addition, the From the Heart Die Set is the Anni-VERVE-sary special.  It will be available exclusively as a free gift with orders $35 and over through August 31, while supplies last. From the Heart will be available for purchase in September.

Verve

This second card also uses a Starbucks sleeve - right there as the sleeve on my vente, decaf, non-fat latte card ;)  I used some Stella Rose DP that is very bold and out of my normal range, but I am loving the outcome.  I actually embossed the BG DP in my Swirls EF and skuffed it up a bit with my sanding block (idea I got from Queen Diva Julee herself when she posted a card using this technique about a month ago) but it doesn't really show up that well in the picture - should have sanded it a bit more.  I added three heart brads because I just looooove my lattes :)

Time to enjoy the rest of the hop and then promptly head out to get some coffee or tea LOL!
