Butterfly Inkspirations
I finally got the energy to stamp! After a busy weekend and no time to recover from VBS, the kids are starting two weeks of swimming lessons. That means I get to swim laps for 45 minutes while they are in their lessons and then we hang out for anywhere from 30 - 60 additional minutes just enjoying the water. Needless to say, 45 minutes of swimming laps and additional "fun time" in the water is exhausting me LOL! Actually fell asleep on the couch for an hour after the first day. However, it definitely helps counter the flab factor so exhausted I will gladly be LOL! Was actually wondering which one tires me out more, VBS or the swimming....think the swimming is winning!
Sorry...I regressed...on to the card! The minute I saw this Fall To Layout I fell in love with it. Almost cased the actual layout as I have that fabulous set (may still go ahead and do it anyway!), but opted to use a butterfly instead. I combined the sketch with this week's Inkspiration Colour Challenge. The butterfly trail is from SU's Priceless set and I paired it with SU's butterfly die and border punch. A few half pearls for some dimension and I called it a night.
Hope to squeeze one more card in this week. If not, I'll be here on Saturday for my Sweet 'n Sassy card and on Sunday with my Curtain Call card. Hoping you are all enjoying your summers :) Though they are wearing me out, I am enjoying having my kids all to myself and enjoying a much more relaxed summer schedule. Even the weather is cooperating!
Have a fabulous day and thanks for visiting me today :)

Pretty, pretty, Marisa!! I just love those colors together--you did a great job with them, and with that lovely sketch, too. I think that 45 minutes of swimming laps would more than exhaust me!! Kudos to you for getting out there and getting it done :)
ReplyDeletePS Just saw in your comment on my blog that you asked about the Gamsol technique. Great question! You use just regular pencil crayons, something wax-based like Prismacolor pencils (or even Crayola colored pencils). The Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits) dissolves the wax and frees up the color for better blending. The technique won't work on watercolor (water-based) pencils because there's no wax or anything for the solvent to break down. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty Marisa.. I love the way you use your colors.. I tend to stick to the same one.. Given your school year job isn't it awesome to be home with the kids all summer.. I love that.. It is so hot here that all the pools close up because the water is like bath water... No one swims...I am MELTING...
ReplyDeleteHey Marisa...sounds like you are into full swing of summer :)!!! I'm counting the days till my girls go back to school...LOL!!! I'm so exhausted from this summer...I finally get to see the light at the end of the tunnel....LOL!!! Afterall we did have a nice summer break!!!
ReplyDeleteYour take on the sketch turned out beautiful!!! The big flower and the flourished image are so pretty!!! Looking forward seeing your other approach :)!!! Hugs ~S~
Love these colors together, and what a GREAT stamp choice to go with that big butterfly!
ReplyDeleteOh! THis is SO beautfiul Marisa! YOur cards are always SO perfectly balanced! LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteGreat butterfly and I like the CAS! Swimming laps is great for the cardio workout! Glad you are enjoying the time with the kids, it goes by so fast and I am sure they love all the time with mom.
ReplyDeleteOh this is beautiful, Marisa! I love that sketch too, isn't it perfect? I love your butterfly and the flourish.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Marisa! Love the way you've used these colours!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on the lack of stamping energy ... new goodies and no desire to stamp ... ugh. No time either!
Marisa, this is wonderful! Great colors and design! Love the layered butterfly detailing. I remember those swim lesson days and hanging out in the water/sun til I felt like a ragged sponge. Fun times. Don't for the SPF! Naps....naps are good! Hee!
ReplyDeleteNice, clean and gorgeous!!
