Snowflakes and Snow Woman
This is my last post as one of July's Sweet 'n Sassy Guest Designers. I have had a great time using these wonderful sets and just had to finish off with another snow woman!! I made a very conscious effort to not use blues on this card and went heavy on the pinks instead LOL! Pal Paper Arts is having a monochromatic challenge and that is where I got the idea. Not sure if the silver disqualifies me from the challenge, but regardless, this was a fun card to make.
I glittered her hat and the "snow" and then added some punched snowflakes with bling in the middle around the image, despite the fact I used the snowflake embossing folder in the background. They gave a nice little extra "umph" to the card and balanced it off nicely. The mini bead silver cording was a clearance bin snag at Michael's last year. It was a stinker to tie a bow with because the bow wouldn't stay tied, so I had to put a big old blob of glue in the middle to "freeze" the bow. Thank goodness for clear drying glue LOL!
Have to do some overflow work for hubby's office over the next few weeks and with the kids' swimming lessons over (yeah, no more smelling of chlorine for a while), that means planning and doing activities to keep them busy as they won't be wiped out from swimming. That usually means a wiped out mommy who needs down time, so if it is a bit quiet around here for a few weeks, you'll know why. I'm hoping to post twice a week, any more is to be determined by my energy level or my addiction to the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon!! Makes for a very hard decision at times.....to stamp.....or to read....that is the question LOL!
Thanks for dropping in today and keeping me company (((hugs))). Your comments make my day :D

Marisa, your snow woman is just so cute and I love the pink. I like those scattered about snowflakes, too. Ooh, this just reminds me how fast Christmas is coming. I've got to get busy on those cards.
ReplyDeletegood morning!! This card sure cools me down...and silver is a neutral (IMHO) LOL!! We still have the heat here, but the skies have been covered by smoke from all the fires around here. We hope to go fishing tomorrow regardless :) Check out my blog post today...wink, wink!!! And it was honest...the dh was even here to witness :)
ReplyDeleteI love all those layers of snowflakes and that beautiful silver ribbon! I will have to try these colors for a winter card this year!
ReplyDeleteMarisa, what a cute card! And I like how you have a pink winter card, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about: read or stamp? I sooo know what you mean.
We'll all be here when you decide to jump back in!
This is so cute! Great job with the bg embossing and the punched snowflakes! Have fun with "life" - see you soon...
ReplyDeleteOh, what a super sweet card, Marisa! I love it in pastel pink. I think it makes a lovely winter card :) And to read or to stamp??? What a dilemma--I know EXACTLY what that's like :)
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Marisa! I just love all the pink, the punched snowflakes, your layout and the dry embossing. Cute!!
ReplyDeleteLove that twist of pink rather than the expected blue! That silver beading is so neat. I would have seen that at Michael's and walked right on by. I love how you manipulated it into a bow (thank goodness for glue!).
ReplyDeleteHooray for swim lessons being over (though I do love swimming and tend to look for any excuse to do so). We had a pool in our backyard growing up, and my sister and I used to LIVE in that pool every summer... evidenced by our green-tinged hair (gotta love chlorine).
That bit of silver won't disqualify you but those snowflakes might :-) Don't want to think about snow yet! This is a very sweet card and you did a wonderful job as always - thanks so much for sharing it at PPA!
ReplyDeleteCUTE! I love the snowflakes over the embossed snowflakes! :)
ReplyDeleteMarisa, this is just TOO CUTE! Love how you've used the snowflake punches on top of the embossed background! Clever girl u r! :) I love to read books too, but don't as often since I'm always online reading blogs! Good luck keeping the kiddos busy! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really an awesome look doing a winter snow image in pink!! I love it (even though I don't want to think of that dreadful season that produces all the white stuff)!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun this holiday card is in pink.
ReplyDeleteMarisa, this is adorable...Just like all the other sweet SNSS cards you created this month!! Thank you so much for joining us during July, we so enjoyed seeing your lovely work!! XXOO Kim
ReplyDeletea great christmas card, never thought to use pink, but now will give it a whirl! Hope you manage to get crafting in the next couple of weeks, but the choice between reading and crafting can be a difficult one at times!! :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Love the ribbon treatment! Thanks for playing @ PPA!
ReplyDeleteMarisa, this is ADORABLE! I LOVE the pink and white. Thanks for playing along with 'Our Creative Corner' this week!
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet! I love the pink, red and white together. The scattered snowflakes are a cute touch as well.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh how ADORABLE is this!!!! I love the colour combo, the blinged snowflakes and that snowman is just too cute!!!
ReplyDeleteSo - how far are you into the Outlander Series!!! :D They are awesome aren't they!!!
