VLV Recap and Viewfinder

VLVAugRecap photo VLVAugRecapPic.jpg

It's my turn to do the Viva La Verve recap for this week's sketch provided by Diva Maureen.

I was in need of a sympathy card this week after hearing of the unexpected drowning of the husband of a mom whose kids attended the same elementary school mine did.  It is heartbreaking as they have three children, the oldest being fourteen and the youngest nine.  The autopsy found he had a brain tumor at the base of his skull which most likely caused a seizure when he was in the water, causing him to drown.  So thankful for the wonderful school community that has rallied around the family and many close friends that will walk along side them during this difficult time.

I used this wonderful verse from New Mercies and over stamped it with the foliage image in the same set for some dimension.  Added a secondary "praying for you" sentiment, along with a bow and some butterflies to finish things off.

Thanks for popping by and if you want to see which cards I chose to highlight for this week's VLV sketch and Inspiration Photo, head on over to the Viva La Verve blog and check it out.

Wishing you a fabulous day!

This is a beautiful card. I love the crisp clean look of it and the overstamping you did. This verse is wonderful one to bring comfort to this family. I will be praying for this mom and her 3 kids during this sad time and in the days/weeks/months ahead.

Marisa, this sentiment with the soft image underneath it is BEAUTIFUL. What a sweet card with wonderful layers, butterflies, and very cool little banner too. I hate to hear of the situation you needed it for - what a tough loss. Sad. I know they will appreciate this card. Hugz!

Soft and lovely. I can see this family taking a deep sigh and feeling a needed moment of peace - no matter how brief - with seeing the soft colors and images, and with the sentiment and prayers.

Such a tragic loss; my heart goes out to the wife and children left behind to continue their journey without their husband/dad. So devastating! I echo Kim: your card is soft and lovely, with an infusion of compassion and sympathy that they will welcome and embrace in the days to come. You are an incredibly good-hearted, thoughtful person, Marisa - an inspiration with cards and with 'life'...
