Thoughts and Prayers for Shannan

I just love the sketch Amber gave us this week.  So many fun things you can do with it.  It's so fun to see what inspiration pictures she will provide each week.  This week's dining rooms are are pretty bold.

I just love the colours in the third picture (may make another card using them I like them so much), but since this card is a sympathy card, I thought the colours in the first dining room were more appropriate.  For those of you who may not have heard, Shannan Teubner lost her husband earlier this week. Though I don't personally "know" her, I feel connected to her through seeing her Design Team work at Verve and having a few chats with her at some Verve release parties.  She has two little boys ages 7 and 9 and just the thought of what those children are going through (never mind Shannan!) brings me to tears.  My kids are just a few years older, and when I think of how they would react, it just breaks my heart.  Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

I went on the lighter side of the colours in the picture so my yellow ribbon would match LOL!   In addition, these colours just scream Spring, and to me, Spring always represents new growth and new life - two things Shannan will no doubt experience as she walks through this season in her life and comes out the other side.  I managed to squeeze in my Swiss Dots and I added some yellow half pearls to the left side of the card to balance things off because it was pretty empty over there.

Can't wait to watch the Opening Ceremonies to the Winter Olympics tonite.  It still feels like a dream that they are actually in our city!!  Things are ramping up and there is a lot of excitement in the air.  Can't wait to go down town and check things out just to get a taste of the atmosphere.  Here is a fabulous picture of a snow carving of the Olympic Torch.  Click on it to enlarge it, it is really well done!!.  Needless to say, I'm an Olympic junkie so many things that "should" be getting done over the next two weeks will be put on hold - hopefully not card making LOL!

Gotta run, kids have a hip-hop presentation at school.  Each grade will be doing a dance and it is so much fun to watch them :D  Have a great rest of the day!

Marisa, this is such a lovely card for Shannan and I know what you mean in that our hearts go out to her even though we've never met.

On a lighter note, how exciting for you to live in Vancouver and get to take in the thrill of the Olympics! I love them too and am looking forward to watching! Enjoy!

Smiles, Pam :)

That ribbon was so worth changing the hue a bit! Pretty! I love this sketch from Amber this week. I'm usually not a circle fan, but this one has some good square elements to balance it out, hehe.

Enjoy the opening ceremonies!! I too have front row seats from my couch... But I did a last minute drive home to my parent's house for the holiday weekend, so I get to watch it on the large screen, HD TV! Woohoo! I can't wait for the music. It just makes me happy. :)

This is such a beautiful card, Marisa...the colors alone are soothing! I thought of you when I saw the tragic headline of the death of one of the luge contestants. We never know when the breath we take might be our last.

This is so lovely! Great colours and love the little flowers..it was so sad to hear about Shannan's news...I don't know how she's going get through...it's going to be hard :(

What did you think of the Opening? I liked the cultural aspects, although some were a bit long. Loved the man talking about our identity, I think they said he was from one of the Territories...didn't like O Canada...loved k.d. lang and the last Believe song :) And we couldn't get it up!! I'm sure there will be jokes about the last arm of the flame not getting up...I was so excited to see Rick Hansen with the torch, but disappointed about Wayne...he hasn't lived here in ages...oh well...still all very exciting :)
