Having a Play Date With My Mojo
In keeping with all my under the wire entries this week, here is another one for this week's Mojo Monday sketch. I combined it with this week's Play Date Cafe challenge of black and white with a splash of lilac (or any other shade of purple). I love black and white cards, and adding a splash of colour to them is loads of fun.
As luck would have it, I picked up this black polka dotted Bo Bunny DP a few weeks ago and I knew I wanted to use it on this card. No Swiss Dots so have to use some sort of dots :)
Since Vintage Vogue was still out on my desk, I decided to use it again (twist my rubber arm LOL!). No matter what I did in Photoshop, the big flower looks much more blue than purple. It is actually Lovely Lilac and tones in with the ribbon very nicely in real life - honest! I added some leaves to the flower to cover the pin requirement on the Mojo sketch, and a few black half pearls were the perfect finishing touch.
Off to watch my son's soccer game this morning, and hopefully the rain will hold off!! Nothing like getting cold feet from the very wet grass on the sidelines and having my bangs curl with all the humidity in the air (not to mention the frizz frenzy the rest of my hair pulls on me....oh the joys of having curly hair....NOT!), but when falling rain is added to the mix, the little voice in my head boldly proclaims "Welcome to Winter soccer in British Columbia" LOL. Guess I'll have to do lots of yelling...."ahem"....cheering from the sidelines to keep warm and neutralize the aforementioned issues LOL! Ah yes, the life of a soccer mom :)
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!!

Just lovely, Marisa! You're making me think twice about that Vintage Vogue set!
lol, when my nephews who live in North Van used to play soccer, I always thought it odd that they did it year round...up here, soccer ends when hockey starts and then vice versa in the spring! You are a trooper! I'm still loving all this purple and feel your photo/colour frustration. I have issues with deep purple and bermuda bay! It still looks great in the different shades of what it is in real life :)
Gorgeous, love the colour splash of purple, it's so elegant.
So pretty! Lovely images and your ruffled ribbon is fab! Glad you played with us at The Play Date Cafe!
Wonderful card. Love the black/white with splash of "purple"... yes, I used that word!! Hope you had fun watching the game. Curly hair... I'm sure you know that those without always want the curls!!! What my girls used to go through trying to get curls... irons, products...!!!
Such a lovely card Marisa - it can be frustrating when our photos and editing don't come out quite the way we had imagined they would! Thanks for playing along at the Play Date Cafe :)
Ooh, lovely Marisa! Fab colour combo and layout. I was a Sunday morning football mum for years and I don't miss it one bit, ha ha!! xx
Really? Soccer in the winter? We played football in the snow back in my high school days, but soccer most definitely had to wait until spring (and I'm pretty sure they had to bus south an hour to practice out of the snow-zone, lol). Here's hoping the rain held off for you at least until after the game!
I love the idea of using black and white with a pop of color... And you rocked the purple! Love the scrunched up ribbon and the layered flower. :)
You always make this set sing Marisa, love the black and white with a pop of purple, so elegant! :)
This is wonderful, Marisa! After all of these years, I am really starting to love purple....is that possible? Like taste buds my color "go tos" can change, too? LOL! This is very striking with the black and white combo! Lovely card! Hope you are doing great!
Oh this is so lovely. The black and white really does accent the splash of purple. Wonderful ribbon treatment, too.
Hope you didn't get too wet at soccer.
Pretty as a picture, full of inspiration a world of lovely creativity that I'm just catching up on Marisa. Your lovely cards are a joy to see. I promise I'll try and get back here more often. xxxx
Love the large circle! The flower is pretty along with the ruffled ribbon on a lovely elegant card!!!
Marisa! So glad you came to play at The CAfe with us. :D
I do the same thing when I have stamps out already, it's just easier to make something else with 'em before putting away.
I adore Vintage Vogue, and it was a good choice to make those elements your 'splash' of purple. (my fave color)
Hey, did you get my birthday card yet?
Marisa, it's gorgeous! I know what you mean about getting the colors just right.
I think this challenge has really made me fall for purple. It is such a beautiful, vibrant color.
Hey, you sound like our punchie pal, Debzi, with your hair. LOL
This is so striking Marisa!! I love the textured "F"!! And your color combo is just fabulous!! Love the dots and ribbon treatment!! WOW!
Beautiful card - great job with these colors :) Love the flower & the 'F'!
Oh I love the pop of purple - great take from the inspiration photo!
I bet you are a great soccer mom.. This is a fantastic card.. I love purple and black together.. Super ribbon treatment too.
Oooo! Such a scrumptious, crumpled ribbon! What a great take on both challenges! Thanks so much for playing along with us, this week, in the Cafe!
You did such a great job of this sketch and that ribbon.....oh my! Lovely take on that sketch. You sure do that Vintage Vogue set justice. Love this color combo - you've inspired me! Keep up the great work, Marisa!
Super cute card--love that ribbon treatment:) FUN! Thanks so much for playing along with us and for joining in the fun at the PDCC!!!
So lovely! I love the vintage flower and the placement of the brads. Wonderful card, as always, Marisa!
This is a wonderfully regal card, Marisa...a perfect splash of lavender on a gorgeous, crisp, clean background. So true to your style...and I love it!
