Butterflies and Flourishes

This week's Verve sketch was a hum dinger!  After much pondering, I decided my sanity was worth more than having to struggle with the "sun rays" so I decided to take a few liberties with the that part of the sketch as I saw a few of the Divas do the same.  So if Shannan questions me, I can say "the Diva's did it" LOL!
.
When I saw the sketch I immediately thought of a butterfly (surprise, surprise!) and the butterfly trial subbing in for the rays.  I started off with this fabulous Cosmo Cricket DT and my colours came from there.  I double layered the lacy circle nesties and added my butterfly.  Then I realized there was no way my butterfly trail (I used this wonderful flourish from the There She Goes Flourish set) could match up properly unless my butterfly was flying sideways or downward, so the butterfly is flying properly and the butterfly trail works right where it is, right (wink, wink).  Phew!! I can't believe I've finished all the Verve sketches for this month so early - feels good :)

This weekend is a special one as my son and some of the other Grade 5/6 Youth are doing a God Rod performance to Arise My Love at our church's Easter performances.  He has the lead and I had tears streaming down my face at the rehearsal last night.  All the kids did an amazing job with the choreography and my little guy did a great job as the lead and has quite the stage presence the little rotter!  Proud mommy moment - happy sigh...

It's going to be a crazy busy weekend with two Easter performances and then a big Easter dinner on Monday to play sues chef for (hubby is the chef in the family and we are having lamb and ham), so I'll take this opportunity to wish you all a blessed Easter weekend.  Blessings.

If all the divas jumped off a bridge... ;)

I am so totally teasing! I am no task master...the idea is to be creative and have fun, right? I actually remember telling Jen del Muro once to close one eye, tilt her head sideways and THEN look at my card to see the sketch ;)

Have an awesome weekend!

Beautiful card, my dear, the colors are so cheery and Spring-like! Love the butterfly too; I guess I'm one of the offending Divas with the gem flourish. I have to say that I'm not that good at matching 6 or 7 different types of paper, so instead of making it look like I don't know what I'm doing, I opted for the easy way out :)
Congrats to your son, I certainly wouldn't be able to keep my eyes dry during that performance..I'm so happy for both of you...this will be an event to remember!
I want to wish you and your family a very Happy Easter and I hope you have a fun, relaxing day!

Ahh, lamb and ham...sounds like a Dr. Seuss book. Lucky girl, I need to get my hubby to some cooking classes...

what pops of pretty spring colours! Love how you tilted the butterfly! LOL, nice way around the starbursts! I love how many different ways others have used...I wasn't creative enough and spent an hour figuring out how to do it with paper! LOL Hope the weekend and all your plans are going well. We finally have some nice sunny weather and I'm hoping to detail the car today!

I was thinking the same thing too about the sanity being worth more than the direct following of a sketch =) You did this one up beautifully!
