Yeah! Viva La Verve Sketches Are Back!

Now that it is January, the Friday Viva La Verve sketches are back and this is my card for the first sketch of 2012.

I went with a Valentine's theme as I just love making cards with hearts on them (you may very well get sick of seeing them as we work our way toward Valentine's Day!).

I paired a Spellbinder heart with an embossed "U" from Verve's I Heart You die set and added the hugs and kisses tag for a little extra something.  I may use it as hubby's Valentine's Day card as it has clean lines and not a lot of fru-fru stuff on it.

As far as the car issues goes, looks like the damage was all cosmetic - yeah! - so we should get it back by the end of next week.  The irritating part of this whole experience is the fact we were blamed for 75% of the accident!!!  When I asked why we are taking the bulk of the blame, I was told when you are turning left on a residential street (versus an intersection)  it is your responsibility to make sure it is safe to turn left, which includes watching out for someone who is coming up behind you!  Still haven't quite wrapped my mind around the logic of this rule as that is what blinkers are for (and the adjuster even admitted many people do not know about this rule....I wonder why???!!!).  Ridiculous is the polite word I'm using for my thoughts regarding this law and outcome to our accident!!  However, we are thankful nobody got hurt so we are choosing to focus on that instead.

Wishing you a fabulous weekend.  Planning on getting some inky time myself which bodes well for some posts next week :)

The world's getting crazier and crazier, Marisa. I am convinced of that. I am shaking my head about that whole 'who's to blame bit' regarding your accident. Hmph.

Great Valentine card, and way to use that sketch! I had trouble with it, even though it's a relatively simple one!

love is definitely in the air with this one!! Love that sweet heart dp and the little tag :) GRRR ICBC!!! That is the most ridiculous law...how about passing someone on a side street? What about that law? Whatcha gonna buy with your winnings? How exciting!! I think you're going with the hearts even though I think you should go with the shamrocks!!

Holy cow I cannot believe that. How could it be your fault. Wrong just wrong. SOrry this has been such an issue. The laws should all be the same no matter what road you are on. Your card is beautiful. I love that heart and can't believe it is time for Valentines cards already.

This is a great sketch!!! I played along but with "other" stamps...hehe. I'm so glad that your car damage is just cosmetic. That makes for a mess though! Love your card......Especially that die cut U and the twine!!!

That is just the craziest law ever! I'd have my gastric juices stirred up over that one! But thankfully no one was injured. LOVE your card, Marisa, and it's perfect for your DH! Congrats on winning some Verve...lucky you!

Have just read about your car accident Marisa and just cannot understand how you are 75% to blame!!!! I don't think that would be the case here.

Your card today and your Thank you card are both so stylish. Whenever I visit your blog I think 'yes, that's just how I want my cards to look', but of course they never do, lol!!

I never knew about this "rule" either...just read your post to my husband and he never heard of it either. That doesn't make any sense that you have to take 75% of the blame.

Beautiful card. I was looking at those I (heart) U dies from Verve. They're cute and fun!

You always rock that "u"! I love the texture you added to it and the little tag.

Your card is gorgeous..love that 'U' and the pretty heart paper.

But, I'm pretty steamed up over that car accident ruling. What? I don't get it. So, the blinker meant nothing? Of course, without it, they would probably have given you 100% fault.

Holy moly - that's freaking ridiculous! What an absurd rule. I was always under the impression that rear ending is ALWAYS the rear-ender's responsibility. How are you supposed to get them to slow down if your brake & turning signal doesn't clue them in?!

Oh boy...

Anyways, I love this card and your take on it! Congrats on your Verve win - should enable even more goodies. Did you already order or are you waiting for your birthday?

Love the colors on this valentine, Marisa...with the gray...and no fru fru...perfect for your hubby:)!! So sorry to hear about the accident...can hardly believe you could be accused of ANY part of it...I am hard pressed to understand!! So glad to hear you and your family are fine...THAT's the most important thing...will never understand the foolish impatience of people behind the wheel of a 2 ton car, though.
