Masculine Verve Birthday Card

This is the final Verve sketch for September.  This month always flies by being the first month of school with all the activities ramping up again.  The school year schedule has been set and here we go!!

I decided to go with a masculine theme for this card when I found this striped paper.  Matched it up with more yummy fall colours and then hand doodled the stitching around the sentiment panel.

The top right hand corner was just too plain for my linking (even for a masculine card) and since I couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted to use in the corner, I armed myself with my various options and took them downstairs for a family vote.  The consensus was the leaves with the button.  Took their vote and ran with it.  Anyone else recruit their family for decisions on cards?!  They are a great cure for indecisiveness LOL!

What's In It?
Stamps: Happy Birthday To You Plain Jane and Best Dad (Verve)
Paper: Costco Paper Pack, Early Espresso, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Cream Linen
Ink: Black, VersaMark
Accessories: Classy Label and Ribbon Banner Dies (A Cut Above by Verve), Scalloped Border Punch (Stampin' Up), Leaf Punch (Martha Stewart), Button, Twine, Glue Dot, Brown Half Pearls, Dimensionals

Wonderful card, Marisa. Love how you have used fall colours to create a masculine card. And yes, I do consult my husband sometimes regarding the cards I'm making LOL. He's always very supportive and loves what I'm creating.

Great masculine card. I like the colors and the leaves with the button. I sometimes ask my daughter for her take on a card I am making and often like her opinions.

Love the striped paper and that wonderful ribbon banner. I may have told you doodling scares me...somewhat the way skewed panels used to scare you. LOL

I ask my hubby for his opinion on cards occasionally. Sometimes, I take his advice and sometimes not.
So, I guess the question now is why I ask. Maybe just to see if he agrees with me. LOL

I used to ask my son for his opinion all the time (he was still living at home when I started out making cards). He is an artist so I really valued his opinion and I do miss that so much now.
This is a wonderful masculine card - great job on the doodling. I'm with Benzi-- doodling scares me.
