Birthday Blessings For My SIL

Verve

Diva Teresa came up with a great sketch for the fifth week in August.  I decided to use it to make a birthday card for my sister-in-law as she likes girly cards.

Some K & Co. paper started me off and the rest fell together from there.  I had my first crack at using the MFT Rolled Rose dies which I have had for some time but didn't have a paper quilling tool to help roll them as Mike's no longer sells them.  Thankfully a good friend of mine gave me an extra one she had :)  My poor roses look past their prime...I'm obviously in need of more practice!!  Good thing  my SIL isn't a card maker and won't scrutinize them too much ;)

Off to get my daughter's locker today.  She is moving into high school this year (eighth grade up here in Canada as we have no middle school in our area) and not at all happy about it LOL!  An introvert who hates change....doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that combination out :)  Good news is we have her class schedule so we can walk through the school and find out where each of her classes will be ahead of time.  Walk down memory lane for me as I attended that school the second year it was open...yes, I'm  feeling old!!

Have a blessed day :)

The card is beautiful and I love the flowers...totally did not get the impression that they were anything less than perfect! You've done Teresa's sketch proud, I'd say!!
I have a son going into 8th grade as well, except we do have a middle school. They grow up so darned fast~ I'm sure that your daughter will be well accustomed shortly, it's just the shortly part that will feel like forever to deal with...been there, done that...anyway good luck to her!

My daughter's are going to the same schools as my Hubby and my MIL! From a mother with a daughter that also hates change, I feel for you! Good luck to her!

I think your roses look beautiful! I've yet to try them. Good luck to your daughter. I remember when I went to high school. I felt so overwhelmed and small and I was scared to death that I'd fall down those slippery old back stairs! I never did fall, there anyway, and ended up loving high school.

what a pretty, pretty card! LOVE all the layers and elements. I have that rolled flower die too and haven't used it at all. I made one with the plain one, but it didn't turn out well...like you said, I think it just takes practise. Hopefully your daughter will change her mind once school starts...great idea to go and walk around the school ahead of time....cool, didn't realize you grew up in that area too!!

Those roses don't look past their prime...I was thinking how good they looked, actually! And your SIL will love this girly card, with hefty doses of pink and frill. That's neat that your daughter enters a new school this year. I do hope her transition is smooth, considering she's not looking forward to it.

Oh, how time flies, Marisa. An eighth grader and she will be graduated before you know it. Enjoy her every minute.

Lovely card and I think your roses look wonderful! Good luck to your daughter - she sounds like me (and my 6 year old) - an introvert who hates change! She will adjust :) My high school will be knocked down soon to make way for a new one - at least yours is still standing! My dad attended my high school, though, so it is much older - lol!
