Color Dare 99

Color Dare 99
Marina Mist
Cherry Cobbler
Basic Grey

This is my last Color Dare Design Team card.  My six month term has come to an end all to quickly.  I wish to thank Riley for this wonderful opportunity.  I have truly enjoyed myself and accumulated some wonderful colour combinations :)

This week's colours are no exception.  Riley came up with another wonderful masculine colour combination, but I decided not to go that route as I did a masculine card with last week's colours.  My card is not overly feminine and a bit on the dramatic side, but a lovely colour combination none-the-less.

I used last week's Clean and Simple layout and cheated a bit by adding black as an accent colour as it gave the bit of punch I needed.  Basically kept to the sketch and pulled out the matching nestie, one I got a while back and have not used much yet.  The sentiment, Phillipians 4:13, is from Verve, and I framed it with some flowers.  My ribbon came from a Michaels' ribbon bin diving adventure and isn't as dark as Basic Grey (I'm being a real rebel on my last card LOL!), but it still works nicely with the colours.

Thanks for stopping by and joining me in these challenges. It has been a delight to see your creations.  Though I won't be on the Design Team after this week's Dare, I'm sure I'll be popping in and enjoying a few of the challenges along the way.  Have a fabulous day :)

Color Dare 98

Color Dare #98
Perfect Plum
Always Artichoke
Neutral of Choice

Another fun colour combination by Riley this week. My neutral of choice was white (with a touch of black).  I combined this week's colours with the the last Verve sketch for February, which my blogging buddy Andrea created.  I am SO thankful she didn't create a sketch with a skewed panel LOL!  Two in a month is more than enough for me LOL!  The diagonal was a fun twist.

I found this wonderful Basic Grey Kioshi paper that was a perfect fit for this week's colours.   I polka dotted the Plum panel and combined my scalloped square and Label 16 dies for the sentiment panel (love that Label 16 shape!).  A touch of black accents and was good to go :)  Nothing too elaborate this week as time was short, just a fun, quick card to make.

Color Dare 97

Color Dare 97
Night of Navy
Marina Mist
River Rock

Riley selected a wonderful group of colours again this week.  The perfect mix for a masculine card using the cute little sail boat from Verve's Text Notes.  I combined this week's colours with one of this month's Verse sketches.  Wasn't fun having to contend with a skewed panel again - ugh!  They always push my limits and my buttons!

I used one of the sentiment sentences from the set to form a background on the Marina Mist panel and paper pieced my sailboat.  That mast was nasty  hard to cut out!!  In my distress I reached for the comfort of my Swiss Dots embossing folder, and used this fun Martha Stewart border punch for the sides.

This card confirmed once again why I don't do skewed panels well.  While adhering my sailboat panel on to the card, I kept putting it on crooked!!  My eye kept catching the angled blue panel and using it to align my sailboat so my poor little boat was encountering the "deadliest wave" rather than sailing on calm seas.  Must have repositioned it four times.  Poor little thing was as messed up as I am with skewed panels LOL!

Color Dare 96

Color Dare 96
Peach Parfait
Bashful Blue
Garden Green

I haven't made a button bouquet for some time so I took the opportunity to do so as I had the perfect colour buttons for this week's challenge :)   I made another circle card too as they are just so much fun to make.

The card is pretty self explanatory and when one doesn't use Swiss Dots, polka dotted paper is a great substitute LOL!

Color Dare 95

Color Dare 95
Daffodil Delight
Marina Mist
Basic Black

Time was tight and my creative gene was napping today, so I did a big cheat and literally cased this Limelight Sketch for my card today.  I have had it in my "must try" sketches for some time now, and today was the perfect opportunity to use it - cheat and all :)

Had to substitute So Saffron for Daffodil Delight, and close matching Bazzili Lakeshore paper for the Marina Mist but they worked wonderfully well.  Have to celebrate the sunshine we are fiiiinally getting by using my butterfly die :)  I ruffled some of this fun black and white polka dotted ribbon which I dug out of the Michael's ribbon bin.  Made me soooo mad to not be able to find a second roll in that darn bin.  Don't ask me how long I dug trying to find another one!  Let's just say I just about dumped the entire bin over on to the floor in  my frustration LOL!

Color Dare 94

Color Dare 94
Pretty in Pink
Pear Pizzazz
Perfect Plum

Tripped across this There She Goes sketch and decided to use it for this week's color challenge.  Loved the breath of spring these colours brought to the gloomy, rainy, wet days we've been having here for much longer than is healthy LOL!

I pulled out one of my favorite Stampin' Up sets, Vintage Vogue.  I just love this set, and haven't used it in a while, so it was time to ink it up again :)  Snuck in some Swiss Dots,  used my lacey Nesties (still totally loving them), added some scallops, some ruffled ribbon and called it a card.

Color Dare 93

Color Dare 93
Regal Rose
Pink Pirouette
Pacific Point

This was a fun colour combination to work with. Two pinks and pop of bright blue - and that Pacific Point sure is bright!

I decided to use this week's Card Positioning sketch and pulled out one of my favorite Verve flower sets - Great Friend.  I added some French Script in Rose Romance to the pink flower for some texture and couldn't resist using my crimper for the horizontal panel.  A few half pearls, some pink leaves (that took a bit of getting used to LOL!), and this fabulous Verve sentiment and I called it a card.  Now that I  look at the card, I think I should have added a line of piercing up to the thank you.  May have to try that.

Color Dare 92

Color Dare 92
Poppy Parade
So Saffron
Very Vanilla

Fun mix of colour Riley picked for us this week, though I to substitute the red, but it worked wonderfully.

I based my card of f this sketch from Lucy's Cards and it is my first skewed panel of 2011 :)  I am trying to "embrace the skewed panels" a bit more this year to stretch the old comfort zone a bit.  I also distressed the edges a bit, a challenge Andrea Ewen tossed my way last year and I'm just getting to.  I wanted to do more distressing but wasn't sure the recipient would appreciate it so kept it light.

The picture doesn't show it well at all, but I VersaMarked the French Script background stamp on the red and the red portion of the flower - maybe I should have gone with Real Red instead.  May have to go back and change that.  Hmmm, think I need to make a second card with the changes on it :)

Color Dare 91

Color Dare 91
Tempting Turquoise
Pear Pizzazz
Tangerine Tango

This wonderful mix of colours Riley has come up with this week made my mind turn to Spring.  The bright colours reminded me of flowers and that was all the excuse I needed to make a flower card LOL!  Will definitely be looking it often as I watch the snow fall outside!  Thankfully, rain is coming tomorrow so it will last just long enough for the kids to enjoy some sledding down the hill at the school.

I paired this week's colours with an old Technostamper sketch as it was perfect for creating a flower scene.  Out came my Verve Many Blessings set and to work I went.  I stamped an extra flower of each and cut out the middle layer to pop up for some dimension, used some ruffled ribbon for grass, added a few butterflies and half pearls, and voila, my spring flowers emerged :)  A wonderful reminder that Spring will come.

Color Dare 89

Color Dare

Color Dare 89
Cherry Cobbler
Old Olive
Soft Suede

Loved this colour combination.  A wonderful mix of saturated colours that look fabulous together and lend themselves perfectly to a Christmas card.  This one is going to our fabulous Children's Pastor at our church.  The teaching they receive for her is amazing and her love for kids overflows into all she does for them.  Love her to bits and am so fortunate and thankful to be able to work under her as I teach the Grade 5/6 Sunday School class.

I paired this week's colours with Mercy's sketch from a few weeks back.  I seem to be behind on sketches lately...just too many things to try to fit in a day right now!

I decided to use Richly Blessed as I love the fact Julee included a cross in this set - thank you Julee!  The verse in Isaiah with the over stamped cross so fabulously depicts the fulfillment of the prophecy from long ago and the ultimate reason for Christ's birth.  Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.  I kept things pretty simple as time is of the essence right now, but happy with the outcome none-the-less.

Color Dare 90

Color Dare 90
Pink Pirouette
Baja Breeze
Rich Razzleberry
Very Vanilla

I paired this week's colours with last week's Card Pattern's sketch.  I'm not sold on the card, but think it may have to do with the fact I had to use Pretty in Pink instead of Pink Pirouette as I didn't have any and the pink I used was a bit too strong for this colour combo.  That will teach me not to have all the colours in stock LOL!

I went with another non-Christmas card, and since I haven't used my butterfly die for some time, out it came (still madly addicted to this die!).  The pink butterfly has a double pattern on it as I tried one embossing folder and didn't like it so ran it through the Swiss Dots one to match the vanilla dotted panel and thus the double pattern.  Thought the look was unique so kept it :)

The card seemed a bit "blah" to me, so I added a few black accents to perk things up a bit and it's sitting a bit better with me now :)

Color Dare 88

Color Dare 88
Riding Hood Red
Old Olive
Neutral of Choice

Since I was in the mood for a circle card, I immediately went with this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch.  It was a perfect fit for what I had in mind, and I was doing a big happy dance as this doesn't happen to me very often!!  My one creative gene must be spreading some Christmas cheer early LOL!

Out came my newest addiction - the lacy circles.  I paired that with my combination double dot embossing folder kick as they were the perfect look of falling snow to go with the snowflake.  My tag migrated a tad from the sketch so hopefully the mouse police will be buried in the snow overseas and scared to venture out and check up on me :)

Color Dare 87

Color Dare 87
Chocolate Chip
Concord Crush
Perfect Plum

I loved this colour combo of purple and brown. Such wonderfully rich colours and they work very well together.  I used cream as my neutral and paired it with this week's 2 Sketches 4 You tag sketch.  This is such a wonderful sketch I know I'll be using it for more tags - the possibilities are endless :)

Keeping in the Christmas mode, I decided to use snowflakes.  The brown panel is crimped and I used my Seeing Spots embossing folder for the concord trim on the top and bottom of the tag.  If I had some chunky glitter, I would have put that on the snowflakes as well.  May have to use my 40% coupon from Mike's to get some thanks to all the enabling bloggers out there LOL!

To those of you who have been asking, the school's craft fair went pretty well.  A little more advertising would have gone a long way as traffic was a bit slow at times, but seeing it is the first time the school has done one and they had over 40 vendors, they did a great job.  However, they are dangerous places to sit at for five hours as you can end up spending more money than you make LOL!  I'm pleased to say, I restrained myself to one pendant necklace which I just love and I can't wait to wear :)

Thanks for popping in today and I am so looking forward to being able to create again rather than mass produce!!  Have a fabulous day :)

Color Dare 86

Color Dare 86
Pumpkin Pie
Baja Breeze
Wild Wasabi
Cajun Craze

Loved the mix of fall colours Riley used this week with the pop of blue thrown in.
I combined this week's Color Dare with Card Positioning Systems' sketch 193.
The pumpkin image is Verve's Bountiful Harvest and I coloured them with Twinkling H2O's and added some black half pearls to the end of each vine for a little something.  I think my ribbon may be closer to Bordering Blue than Baja Breeze, but it still looks good with the other colours so it must be a fairly close match - or so my story goes and I'm sticking to it :)

If  you look at the bottom left corner you will see white stuff on the ground.  Yup, we got 5 inches of snow last Friday night and with the cold temps sticking around (-8C today with the wind chill -- that's 16F) it's still here.  Bummer is, Saturday was quite warm so the sledding hill at the school is now grass but the there is plenty on the ground elsewhere for the kids to play in.  They say we are in for a pretty bad winter this year, and we sure started off with a bang by having snow so early.  Will have to see what the rest of winter brings.  Thankfully, mommy is on the ball as we have snow boots and snow suits all ready to be used :)  Just a bit slow on mounting the snow tires, but they go on next week once my craft fair is over and I can join the life of the living again LOL!

Color Dare 85

Color Dare 85
Melon Mambo
Blushing Bride
Pacific Point

I love the two pinks with the pop of Pacific Point in this week's colour challenge.  I don't own any Blushing Bride, so subbed in a colour from my LSS which I hope is a close match :)

I combined this week's colours with Mercy's Sketch.  Just love this woman's sketches!! You can dress them up of keep them simple, the sky is the limit :)

I pulled out the very first Verve set I ever purchased - Serenity.  Yes, this set is where my Verve addition began LOL!  Julee has so many fabulous sentiments in her sets and a wonderful selection of Bible verses as Plain Janes in fonts that I absolutely love (not to mention her flowers!).  I over stamped the sentiment with the Serenity leaf image, but it 's a bit hard to see as it is such a light colour.

Continuing with my addition theme, out came the lacy circle nesties again.  I crimped the horizontal banner for some added dimension and embossed the melon mambo panel with a new embossing folder I don't even know the name of just yet LOL!  One of the local scrapbooking stores I shop at brilliantly split up the four packs they now come in so you can buy them individually.  I twisted my rubber arm for, oh.....about a second, and into my basket it went :)    Two leaves from Verve's Autumn Splendor, a button and two black half pearls finished the card of nicely.

Color Dare 84
Pear Pizzazz
Night of Navy
Soft Suede

What a wonderful colour combination Riley came up with this week.  I knew today's card was going to be a round one because my new lacy circle nesties just had to be broken in :)  It's also been a while since I made a button bouquet.  I put the celery at the bottom as the "grass" and built my bouquet from there.  Added to the fun was using two varieties of my beloved dots :)  Yes, I was a happy stamper making this card LOL!

Color Dare 82

Color Dare 82
Garden Green
Perfect Plum
Blushing Bride
Very Vanilla

If the sketch looks familiar, it is because I paired this week's colours with the same Sweet Sunday Sketch as last week because it had a large panel for me to work with. This time I kept true to the sketch and didn't rotate it.

The Garden Green was working me over until I saw my Inspired by Nature set and bingo, grass it would be LOL!  I added some butterflies and this fun Martha Stewart Border punch I haven't used for a while.  I needed something else to tie in the garden green and as luck would have it, I had the perfect button in that colour - score!  Love it when that happens:)  Not sure why my Perfect Plum paper and ink look so different, but they are the same, I promise!
