Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Kissing Booth

Time for another Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge and this photo gives tons of options for inspiration!  The LEAD of the Kissing Booth challenge will be invited as a Guest Designer in a future Curtain Call challenge!

CC Feb 1, 2015 photo CCFeb1pic.jpg

I hummed and hawed about several colour combinations and using chevrons, but just wasn't happy with them so I finally decided to have some fun and create my own kissing both card!  Pulled out my Tim Holtz woodgrain embossing folder and created the booth's frame.  The striped paper pulls in the panelling at the bottom of the booth in the photo as do the chevron banners as per the photo.  Added a small, rustic, wooden sign that is nailed to the booth to finish things off (think country fair).  Had too much fun making this card and I think my Valentine's Day card for hubby is now made LOL.

Check out the rest of the DT's creations for added inspiration.

Banner Birthday

 photo PSHBpic.jpg

Ever get so excited about making a card for a challenge and when you are done you realize you goofed and didn't fulfill the challenge requirements!  Well, such was the case with this card.  I got so excited about using this fabulous MME paper pad again that I totally forgot about the inspiration picture and was nowhere near the proper colour combination LOL!  Upside:  I have an extra card to post :)

A quick and easy card with banners which is a great way to use up some scraps - that is unless you "should be" using a "certain" colour scheme pffffft!

Have a fabulous day!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Smooches Reminder

This is my second post of the day. Scroll down for my Verve Release post.

We are half way through our current "Smooch" Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge so there is still time to play.

Paper Smooches is our sponsor and they have a ton of fun stamps you can chose from should you be the randomly selected winner of this challenge!  In addition, don't forget the LEAD for this challenge will be a guest designer for one of our upcoming challenges :)

For my card, I used We Connect, a fun sentiment set for Valentine's Day, Wedding, and love themed cards.  So many fun sentiments to mix and match - love it (no pun intended LOL).  I created a background by versamarking a sentiment on it and then built the sentiment on the tag, finishing it off with a row of hearts.

If you haven't played along yet we'd love to have you join us!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Smitten

First of all, Happy New Year everyone!!  We are starting 2014 off with our first Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge of the New Year entitled "Smitten".  This time round, Linnie Blooms is our sponsor, and the LEAD of the Smitten challenge will receive a gift certificate to their store!

We were graciously provided with some gelatos for this challenge and I was eager to try them out as I have never used them before.  My mixed media, card making friends are no doubt gasping at that fact LOL!

 photo CCJan1picA.jpg

I started out by embossing some polka dots on to white card stock. Then I created three ribbons of colour across the dots using the gelatos (there is a blue stripe in the middle, honest!), wet my finger, and then blended the gelatos into the paper.  They dissolve wonderfully with water and create a fabulous watercolour effect.  Next, I embossed a word background stamp on the heart die and repeated the process using just a yellow gelato.  It was great fun using this medium and technique -- finger painting at its best LOL!

You can check out all the challenge details over on the Curtain Call Inspirations Challenge and also get a chance to view all the wonderful Curtain Call Crew and guest designer samples!  Should you wish more details on the Curtain Call Crew's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Lesley Croghan, Guest Designer

You have until January 10th at 8:00 a.m. CST to complete a new card/project using the inspiration picture and linking it up accordingly.  The Lead and Show Stoppers will be announced on January 14th.

Cherish...

Cherish

Found this fun Sweet Shop sketch in my sketch file and decided to give it a go.  Opted for a little more dramatic Valentine's Day card made with red and black.  Even used two more goodies from my "to be used later" pile - yeah!

Had a big issue with the sentiment.  Swapped it out about three times as the font just didn't match the rest of the card - ever happen to you?  I'm not totally satisfied with this one (due to the sentiment panel issue), but ran out of options, so this is what I had to to with... :(

Good news is, this card is in the past and I can move on to another one!  That's what I love about his hobby :)

Have a fabulous day everyone and thanks for visiting today.  Your company is always appreciated!

Paper Smooch Hugs and Kisses

Paper Smooches

The Paper Smooches Sparks blog has a sketch this week so I thought I would play along.  The vertical sketch on the right was my sketch of choice and though it ended up being covered up for the most part, it is there - honest LOL!  Also playing along with Delightfut Images' challenge of adding a tag to your card.

In my never-ending quest to decrease my "to be used later" pile, I pulled out a tag and heart die cut to add to the sketch.  Kisses became my focal sentiment and then I added the hugs as the two just go together :)   They are both from the We Connect set by Paper Smooches which is such a fun set!  There are many wonderful words which you can use individually or mix and match and piece together to form longer sentiments.

Hoping the soccer fields are open for practice today as the boys need to focus after a month off as they are entering Cup play season.  The grouping they are in is very evenly matched - any team could win, which makes for some great games.  Just comes down to who wants it more.  Five weekend games and if they win this division they move on. If not, they can hang up their cleats until next year.  So...we need to get a practice in to fire them all up :)   Fingers crossed...!

I Cherish You

VLV Dec Week 4

Squeezing in the last Verve sketch for the month.  I took the sketch literally and used a heart - didn't take much to twist my heart loving arm wink, wink :)

Used some fun, new Bo Bunny paper with some non-traditional Valentine's Day colours and the sentiment is from a Paper Smooches set I recently won on Laurie Schmidlin's blog.

Things are still in relaxation mode here.  We have had two jammie days, two puzzles have been made, all the Lego sets have been constructed by my son and my daughter is learning tons about all the features on her camera.  She got a Canon T3i with everyone contributing towards it and her paying the balance.  Needless to say, she is thrilled and the cat will soon be charging modelling fees LOL!   Note to self:  do not let her take a picture of you without make-up on first thing in the morning!!  That camera takes amazing pictures which are a little too clear, defined and detailed my liking, especially first thing in the morning when said subject is not looking her best LOL!

Off to enjoy more family time. Think a game of Risk is about to begin - and I want to rule the world wink, wink :)
