Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Acorns

Acorns are the cutest things!  We have quite a few trees in our area that drop them this time of year and it is always fun to collect them.  When you remove their "hats" they are a perfect cat toy too!

 photo CC15Nov2017picB.jpg

I used PTI's Autumn Acorns and matching die set for my card.  Love how it has various acorn sizes and textured tops you can use.  I mounted them on a woodgrain background to pull in the photo background and added a few leaves and some black accents for a pop of colour.  A touch of twine and half pearls finished the cluster nicely.

Still having a bit of an issue wrapping my mind around the fact we are in November already!!  Time to get my Christmas letter and cards done - eeek!! We even had a surprise snowfall last week to keep us on our toes (very rare for us to get snow out on the West Coast never mind one in early November!!).  Was quite the week as we went from 20C on Sunday to snow on Thursday!  Time to get the winter tires on asap!

Enjoy the challenge and I look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery.  Have a wonderful day and thanks for popping by :)

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge ~ Succulent

Time for our first June challenge, and this time round we have a wonderful arrangement of succulents for our inspiration.

 photo CC1June2017pic_1.jpg

I pulled colours from the picture and chose to use some spiky flowers that somewhat resemble the shape of the succulents.  My sketch and card was inspired by this fabulous card by Wanda.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge Reminder ~ Flutter

We are half way through the Flutter challenge and since I love butterflies and this PTI butterfly die so much, I had to make another card for this challenge :)

 photo CCMay7reminderpic.jpg

I used a Case This Sketch from a few weeks ago, pulled my colours from the photo (other than the "pink" which took a rather strong detour towards orange LOL), added the birthday sentiment, a button, and finished things off by rounding the bottom corners.  A nice, quick and easy card.

Mojo Monday #495 Meets The Curtain Call

 photo Mojo 495pic.jpg

Welcome to the first Monday of the month which means it is contest time over at the  Mojo Monday blog :)   The more entries we get, the greater your chances of winning a Verve set of your choice!

I had this MME paper pad out on my desk still so decided to go with it, even though it has more of a fall versus spring colour theme.  I love fall colours and never tire of using them, though you may tire of seeing them {grin}.

This card combines this week's Mojo Monday sketch with the first Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge of the month called "Flutter".  If you know me at all, you know my love of butterflies, and I also love this butterfly die by PTI.  A match made in heaven :)   The sentiment is from Verve's Take Note.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Our weekend was a 50/50 split.  Saturday was wet and rainy and Sunday was gloriously sunny - the weather is taunting us with spring something fierce!!   I bought a few Osteos to plant in my garden as I am dying for some pops of colour and I was finally able to mow the back yard for the first time this year!  Still a bit boggy in spots, but it had to be done as it is in a terrible state.  The winter snow and rain has done a number on it and it will take a lot of TLC to bring it back :(   The moss is having a rave party out there, so hopefully we can get it under control.

Thanks for popping by and have a fabulous week!

Mojo Monday #489

 photo Mojo489pic.jpg

Happy Monday everyone!!  Julee has created this fabulous sketch for us to work with and I absolutely love it!

I wanted to focus on spring colours when I saw this sketch, but as I flipped through my designer papers, I ran across this hoarded Simple Stories paper and just had to use it.   Calling it my week of winter/week before spring pallet {grin}.

I simply adore the mix of colours on this paper, and pulled the rest of my card colours from it.  Used a PTI "birthday" die cut and added a tab with just the word "happy" from the happy birthday sentiment in Poppy Birthday.  Added this gorgeous PTI butterfly for some dimension and pizzaz.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

My week off turned out to be much less productive than I had hoped and planned....I was absolutely wiped out and most likely fighting the bug the rest of the family got so I ended up sleeping a lot and laying low.  Fully energized again and ready to take on the weeks ahead  - booyah!!

Have a fabulous week and I hope you enjoy the sketch as much as I did!

Mojo Monday #484

 photo Mojo484pic.jpg

Last chance to sneak in a heart card {grin} and I took the sketch very literally once again.

Love this fun heart paper by Bella Boulevard, and decided to go with more of a blue than a pink theme.  I rarely use navy so it was fun to play with it :)   Cut out the "XO" from my PTI border die, and used Verve's Heart Quartet Die set for the hearts.   It needed a little something so I added a button.  Will most likely use it for my hubby or my son's Valentine's Day card.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

We had quite the week weather-wise!!  Seven inches of snow Friday night which made for some very heavy shoveling on Saturday morning!  Took me a whole hour to shovel our driveway as the snow was not light!!  Then two more inches of snow on Monday (nice and light - yeah!!) followed by a glorious, sunny day on Tuesday, snow and freezing rain on Wednesday and then heavy rain on Thursday and Friday.  Needless to say, Vancouver has had it with snow this year as we are not set up for the stuff!   The freezing rain added a whole other dimension and some very hazardous conditions!  Our city's schools were closed for three days this wee - the first time in 20 years!   And our cat was far from impressed LOL!

Further inland they had almost three feet of snow and people were stuck in their homes as we do not have the snow plowing equipment needed to deal with the stuff, never mind three feet of it!  You couldn't find salt anywhere.  It has been the coldest and snowiest winter I remember.  We have had large snowfalls before, but the snow is usually done within a few days as it warms up and rains. Not this time!  We had snow and then cold temps to keep it around for some time.

I personally love the brightness the snow brings and seeing blue skies, sunshine and white everywhere just makes me happy as it sure beats grey skies and rain all the time.  However,  navigating the roads is not always a pleasant experience!  Some good memories to talk about for years to come!

Mojo Monday #477

 photo Mojo477pic.jpg

It is the first Monday of the month and that means contest time over on the Mojo Monday blog!  A great way to have a chance at winning a Verve set of your choice as a Christmas pressie :)

In the spirit of December, I made another Christmas card.  Such a fun time of year to make cards.   Love giving a hand made card to a friend, or mailing one out to someone extra special :)

I started out with a piece of MME Holly Jolly paper and pulled in some colours from there.  Love using this PTI poinsettia die and it has been under loved this year so out it came.  Stretching the poinsettia colour range a bit with a rust one, but that is the colour I needed {grin} as there was some rust in the MME paper.  Used PTIs Holiday Wet Paint set and dies for the sentiment and threw in a snowflake for good measure (or overkill, depending on how you look at it lol).

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Got the house all decorated for Christmas so just have Christmas cards, wrapping and a bit of baking to do.  This month is always a blur and I am very much looking forward to having some time off over Christmas!

Speaking of which, this is the last Mojo sketch of the year!  With December being such a busy month,  and most of us short on time to get things done, the Mojo Monday team will be taking our Christmas vacation for the rest of December.   If you need a good sketch, or some inspiration for a card, you can always flip back through this year's sketches and galleries. Loads of goodness there!

We will be back on Monday, January 2nd with the first sketch of 2017.   Blessings!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge ~ Felt

We are back with another fabulous fall themed challenge over at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

CC Nov 1, 2016 photo CCNov1picB.jpg

I just loved the colour pallet and was gushing at the fact there were leaves involved as I have not been able to make enough leaf cards this year!  Out came my PTI maple leaf die and my sorely  neglected felt stash so I could recreate the leaves on the photo.  The Aida cloth background lead me to emboss some kraft to get a similar look and I also added a circle as per the cross stitch ring - I was on a roll ;)   A few pops of dark brown for colour along with a button finished things off.  A masculine card for the men that can handle a twine bow LOL!  Or, Simply remove the twine and add some brads to the top right corner - all depends which guy ends up getting the card.

I am very much enjoying the maple leaves on our street as it is lined with maple trees.  So many gorgeous colours and our "burning bush" in the front flower bed is also screaming Fall - love it!  Must remind myself of the beauty when I have to rake all those maple leaves off the grass after they fall LOL!

Mojo Monday #472

Mojo 472 photo Mojo472pic.jpg

Time for some square card fun!!  Always a joy to work with a square sketch.  Not sure what it is about them, but really enjoy them.  Maybe it is the anal side of me coming through LOL!

For some reason I was in the mood to make a Christmas card so that is the direction I went in.  A big old doily to start, then a big snowflake and lastly the sentiment panel with another snowflake to balance things off.  Lots of blues for that cool, winter, snowy feeling and a touch of sparkle for good measure {grin}.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Our weekends continue to be a blur with tomorrow being November 1st - meeep!!!   I have resigned myself to the fact life won't slow down this year until Christmas (sorry I said the "C" word {grin}.   It has been that type of year.   Already looking forward to time off over Christmas, jammie puzzle making days and time as a family - all priceless :)

Mojo Monday #471

Mojo 471 photo Mojo471pic.jpg

It's Mojo Monday time once again.  Love starting my week off with a great sketch :)

When I saw the stars on the sketch, I immediately went in to masculine card mode and from there I decided to make a baby boy card. Pulled out Birthday Bots which I haven't used for a long time and went to work.  Stamped my favorite "bot", fussy cut him out, coloured him and then used the Starry die set and a star die for the star cluster.  Needed to fill in some white space so added the number "3" to the focal panel and finished things off with a banner from the Flag It die set and a button.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Have fun with the sketch and I look forward to seeing your take on the sketch in the gallery.

Mojo Monday #470

 photo Mojo470pic.jpg

We were hit by a big, blustery storm this weekend, so staying cozy and warm inside was the agenda for the weekend - perfect for a little crafting time :)

My poor son had to ref soccer this weekend, but managed to get away fairly unscathed as for the most part, his games fell during the "lulls" in the wind and rain.  I must confess to not going to this weekend's games as I do not do well in cold, windy weather at the best of times, so his dad got the honor and I stayed home warm and dry making some butternut squash soup for everyone to come home to.

I have been negligent in using my beloved leaf dies so they came out to play for this sketch.  Our street is lined with maple trees which just makes me swoon :)   The sentiment is from Lean On Me.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Enjoy the sketch and have a fabulous week!

Mojo Monday #463

Mojo 463 photo Mojo463pic.jpg

It's a tall and skinny sketch week this week, and I had great fun creating my hubby's birthday card with it.

I used the arrow image from the Better Together to create the background on the Kraft panel and the Pennant Trim Die for the side panel as some celebratory banners on the card.  I cased this idea from Wanda's fabulous card using this sketch.  The Starry die and Flag It die set completed the embellishments on the card.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Happy to be enjoying a week off work this week :)   I'm in "search and destroy" mode and plan to do a lot of basement purging and the likes as I just haven't had time to anything so far this year due to our very busy schedule.   Started on the weekend and it feels wonderful, especially when the family pitches in as well.   Will also be a busy week getting ready for school to start and doing some campus orientation with my daughter on the weekend as she will be heading to university in September.  Not an overly relaxing week, but I know I will feel tons better once many things are crossed off my To Do List :)

For my card I honed in on the gorgeous colours Julee has highlighted on the inspiration photo.  I LOVE working with Fall colours and this gave me the perfect excuse to be able to dabble in them {grin}.

I used one of our past Viva La Verve sketches for my card along with Kind Words for the sentiment, Bloom and Grow for the flower and the Elegant Leaves and Floral Circles die sets for the flower and leaf cluster.  Crimped the kraft panel for some texture and woodsy feel as per the tree branch and the dream catcher screamed doily so I had to include one {grin}.

Need a little inspiration? Check out the blogs linked below to see what the other Divas did with the challenge! It's sure to be a treat, and speaking of treats, we're giving away a $30 gift voucher to Verve to one random commenter along the hop.  Just leave a little love as you hop about for a chance to win!
