Verve Diva Dare Take Two

Diva Dare June 2014 #2 photo DDJune14picB.jpg

This is my second card for this month's Verve Diva Dare challenge entitled "A Man's World".  Just create a card with a masculine theme and at least one Verve Stamp and then link it up for a chance to win some Verve.

I just love this Jeremiah 17:7 Plain Jane!  So versatile as you can use it for a masculine birthday card, a Father's Day card, or card of encouragement for any male in your life.

The paper is from Down by the Shore by Fancy Pants and I used two of the images from Strong Anchor and their matching dies from the Nautical Die Set.  The background was stamped in VersaMark with the smallest wheel image and I decided to add a bit of burlap for texture and dimension.  Some twine with a sailor's knot grounded the card.

Thanks for popping in today!

My first card uses the Jeremiah 17:7 Plain Jane.  Adore this verse!  Such a great sentiment to put on a Father's Day card, or to encourage someone by letting them know you can see them putting their trust, hope and confidence in the Lord.  I combined it with the anchor and wheel images from Strong Anchor and matching Nautical Die Set.

My second card showcases Wonderful Marvelous.  This is a wonderful set with sentiments for both Mother's and Father's Day.  Chose this fabulous sentiment from the set and embellished it by using the All Aflutter die and matching image from  Blue Skies.   Added a secondary sentiment using a trimmed off die from the Flag It die set.

Masculine Twist On This Week's Viva la Verve Sketch

VLV May 2014 Wk 2 photo VLVMayWk2pic.jpg

Today's card uses this week's Viva La Verve sketch created by Diva Janelle.  Since I used shamrocks on my Mojo Monday card, and flowers and butterflies have been in abundance here lately, I decided to go with a nautical theme.

Love Verve's Strong Anchor and matching Nautical Die set.  The anchor and wheel images were the perfect size for the circles, and I took the opportunity to turn this into a Father's Day card for my hubby by using this wonderful sentiment from the set.  Added the banners using the Pennant Trim die to complete the nautical theme and a few brads and twine my "masculine embellishments" LOL.

Thanks for popping by and if you want to see which cards I chose to highlight for this week's VLV sketch, head on over to the Viva La Verve blog and check it out.

Wishing you a fabulous day!

Verve May 2013 Spotlight Hop ~ Day 3

VR Day 3 - Anchor photo VRDay3Anchor.jpg

Welcome to Day 3 of Verve's Sneak Peek Spotlight Hop.   If you have come here from Christyne's blog you are right on track. If you just happened up on the Hop, you can follow the list below to get caught up.

Today's spotlights are Strong Anchor and matching Nautical Die set, as well as a Plain Jane called Adjusted Sails.  I chose to showcase Strong Anchor since June is a crazy busy month with year end activities at schools etc., and it was a perfect opportunity to get my Father's Day card for hubby done early!

I used the square version of last week's Mojo Monday sketch as I just loved the banners.  I created my own pattern on the banners using the anchor image on one panel and the wheel on the other.  The Curvy Bookplate die was a perfect frame for this fabulous sentiment.    Some embossing and a few buttons added some extra "oomph" and as hard as I tired not to , a bow somehow managed to make it's way on to the card.  Good thing hubby is man enough to deal with it LOL!

VR Day 3 photo VRDay3Anchor2-1.jpg

For my second card, I just had to use this fabulous verse Julee brought to life :)   The Banner Bundle Die Set cut out the flags/banners down the side, and I stamped the wheel image on each one of them for a little something.  The frame around the sentiment panel was created with the rope image in the set.   I omitted the anchor image on the sentiment so I could add a larger one off to the side, which I die cut with the matching Nautical die set.  Couldn't resist adding a twine sailor's knot up the side and a bit of burlap for the anchor to rest in.

Next in line is Andrea, and she always has some drool worthy creation to ogle, so head on over to see what she has created for you today.

Leaf Die Enabling JUGS Sketch

Squeezing in this week's JUGS sketch as it was a nice easy one and I needed a Father's Day card.

While deciding on which papers and dies to use, I tripped across my beloved PTI leaf dies - happy sigh :)  Haven't used them forever as they are a "Fall" die, so to speak, but where there is a will there is a way and a masculine card provided the way :)  I combined them with Verve's Super Dad set for the sentiment and called it a card.

Short and sweet today as the insanity of this month continues.  Cant' wait to be able to sleep in and have a more relaxed schedule in the summer - albeit busy in other ways!  Swimming lessons are booked and we roll into a two week session right after school's out.  Eau de Chlorine here I come LOL!

CAS Father's Day Card

We had an absolutely fabulous visit with my cousin and aunt and the weather could not have been better :)  Lots of good times together and memories to tide us over until the next time we can broach the 3,000 mile expanse between us.

Now that the guest room is free again, it took me no time to pop in there and get inky :)   This is the last Verve sketch for the month - phew!  It was a five weeker this month so we had to work hard for the chance to win some Verve goodies :)

Since it is CAS week, I jumped at the chance to use Verve's new Super Dad set and new banner die to create a Father's Day card.  Think this may be hubby's Father's Day card.

Starting to spazz out about the fact there is only one month of school left!!  Yikes!!  Have to book swimming lessons etc. and try to squeeze in as much stamping time as I can before the kids are home 24/7 and it becomes much harder to do.

Sailing Away....

Julie over at Paper and Such Designs blog had a sketch challenge this week. Since I just go this Stampin' Up image, I decided to combined it with Deb's Last But Not Least challenge to create a card with a nautical theme

A few pieces of  Costco DP later and I was good to go :)  I made a Sailor's Knot for the bottom and anchored it (no pun intended LOL!) with the jumbo brads (that was a tricky adventure, let me tell you!).  Some twine up top and a star with the sentiment and I was done like dinner.

Our school is part of a district track meet today and I'm hoping the rain will hold off and my son does well in his event :)   Always a long day, but so much fun to see all the kids competing individually and as a school.  Last year we finished in the top three so we'll see how we fair this year.

Back tomorrow with my Inkspirations card.
