Mojo Monday 503

 photo Mojo503pic.jpg

I'm baaaaaack.   After a very busy past six months, I think my card making hiatus is over.  Living the sandwich generation is not easy or for the faint of heart....with older teens in the house and aging parents with health issues on both sides, it has been a very, very busy and exhausting time.  I had very little time to myself and absolutely no energy to be creative so reading a good book always won out.  Withe the dust starting to settle the past few weeks, when I saw Julee bringing back the Mojo Monday sketches, I was very, very excited and it was the perfect impetus to create a card.  I have always loved her sketches and they were the perfect jump start I needed to get crafty again :)

With Christmas a month away, the timing was perfect to make a Christmas card.   I have always loved this Echo Park Winter Time paper and these Reverse Confetti trees were crying out to be used.  I paired them with some dark brown and avocado green paper, a pop of silver and topped things off with some silver cording and two silver bells.  Happy sigh... :) :)

Mojo Monday #500 ~ And a Farwell....

 photo Mojo500pic.jpg

Today, we are celebrating 500 Mojo Monday sketches!!  To put that in perspective, that means Julee has been creating fabulous sketches for us just shy of ten years!!  Sadly, this will be the last Mojo sketch.....sniff, sniff...  :(   Be sure to pop on over to the Mojo Monday blog to read her post.

I have a big lump in my throat and a big hole in my heart right now....but at the same time am celebrating with her as she can now dabble in other things with her extra time each week.  Needless to say, I am very thankful for my Mojo Monday sketch binder to be able to go back to.

Out of curiosity, I dug back through my Splitcoast Stampers account (I was  on there for a few years before I started my blog) to see which Mojo sketch was the first one I participated in, and found it was sketch #39 during her first year of sketches when the challenge was still run off her personal blog.  This is the card I made using that sketch and is a tribute to where it all began.

Mojo sketch 120 was my first sketch win for a free Verve Stamps set, followed by four finalist positions, and then that fabulous day, August 6, 2012, when I posted my first card for sketch #263 as a Mojo Maker.  This card brought back memories and made me laugh as I was having a strong, love/hate relationship with skewed panels at the time and as fate would have it, this was the first sketch I had to deal with LOL!  Btw, I now love skewed panels {grin}.

To say I have enjoyed the past 9 years of Julee's sketches is an understatement.  It has remained my favorite challenge over the years, and I will miss it dearly.   Thank you Julee for blessing card makers all over blogland with your amazing sketches!  As the sentiment says on my card, you are a beautiful soul indeed, and I thank you for the honor of being a Mojo Maker ((hugs)) ♥♥♥

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

A huge thank you to those of you who have been faithful participants in the challenge and who have left me so many lovely comments on my Mojo Monday posts over the years. And, to Teresa Kline for all her behind the scenes work.

Would love to have you join us by creating a card and linking it to the challenge!  In honor of sketch number 500, I would love to see 500 cards in the gallery, so please come an play along :)  The challenge is open for two weeks so lots of time to get crafty.

Have a fabulous day, and thank you for stopping by!

Mojo Monday #499

 photo Mojo499pic.jpg

Last sketch of the month and with the extra Monday in May this year, we get a wonderful square sketch :)

Went into spring mode as our weather has finally decided to turn sunny after six months of rain!  Yup, we have set all time rainfall records, cold records, lowest daylight and a few others I am sure.  It has been quite the ride - not!!

But I regress....with the sunshine outside, yellow came to mind and this fun MME paper jumped out at me.  The sentiments if from Kindness Matters.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

My son tweaked his knee on Friday as he missed a step on his way down the stairs (too busy yapping to his buddy and not paying attention to where he was going).  We had to cancel his five reffing games this weekend, and as a result, we got a mellower weekend :)   Good news is, icing it and keeping off it for two days has got him basically back to normal.   My FIL made it through is melanoma surgery with flying colours (was on the top of his head) so we are very thankful for that as well.  Never a dull moment around here I tell you!

Have a fabulous week and thanks for popping by today :)

Mojo Monday #498

 photo mojo498pic.jpg

A wonderful, quick and easy sketch this week that you can keep CAS or glam up a bit.  I went more on the CAS side as we have a very busy weekend and time was limited.

Love this happy paper by My Little Shoebox and pulled the turquoise out from the centers of the flowers for the strips behind the sentiment panel.  Adore the Beautiful Things set as there are so many wonderful, uplifting sentiments in it.  Into my stash to give to my daughter when I give her a little something to help her through exams or the like.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

We had a busy long weekend, with my son reffing 11 games in 3 days at a soccer tournament.  Thankfully, his games were at our local soccer club fields which are just a ten minute drive from home and even better, the sun showed up!!!   It was so nice to feel some warmth and sunshine - everyone was almost giddy after a six month stretch of more rain than we ever want to experience again - heck we were close to having Noah's ark appear LOL!

Have a fabulous week and thanks for popping by today :)

Mojo Monday #497 With A Touch of Curtain Call Frosting

 photo Mojo497pic.jpg

This week's Mojo Monday sketch coincided with the second Curtain Call Inspiration challenge so I doubled up on challenges once again as it was a busy Mother's Day weekend.

I loved the colours of grey and coral in the inspiration photo and the touch of wood grain in the background so drew on them for my card.  I stamped a wood grain background in Versamark on the grey, added two coral panels, crimping one for some dimension and texture, stamped and die cut two flowers using Brighter Days and the coordinating Scalloped Flowers  die set as the flower pattern resembled the cupcake frosting designs on the cupcakes.  I opted to use lace for the diagonal strip to "girly" it up a bit, the  sentiment is from Beautiful Things, and added a pop of green with the leaves for some contrast, and a few butterflies to finish things off.

Made this card for my daughter as she finished her freshman year of university, and did exceptionally well, earning herself a $5,600 academic scholarship for next year!!  She also interviewed for and got one of the 12 Collegium Assistant positions on campus.  It has been such a delight watching how she has grown in so many ways, tackled university, learned the ropes and excelled, stretched yourself, matured and "adulted" well :)  She is continuing to blossom and grow into the beautiful, intelligent, gifted and tender hearted woman God created her to be, and I am beyond blessed to be her mom.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday and Curtain Call blogs where you can view all the wonderful design team samples.

Have a fabulous day, and I look forward to seeing your creations in the galleries :)

Mojo Monday #496

 photo Mojo496pic.jpg

Mojo Monday time again and the big blank panel on the sketch means lots of space to work with and lots of possibilities :)

A wedding card came to mind when I saw the sketch (have to give you a break from flowers {grin}) and I used the sentiment from Love Everlasting along with a double heart die from The Cat's Pajamas.   Added an embossed background and a few half pearls and sequins called it a card.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Nice to be back to my normal part time work week this week.  Last week my job share partner was on vacation so I covered all four days.  By day four 5:30 a.m. was not my favorite time of the day lol - actually, it wasn't all that bad.  Just had to get to bed by ten, but it was a huge struggle as I am loving the newest Wilbur Smith book War Cry and it is soooo hard to turn off the light at ten.  Needless to say, I had a few later nights this weekend and am half way through the book now.  What are you reading these days, or do you have any good recommendations.  I am always looking for new books to add to my reading list.

Have a fabulous day, and I look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery :)

Mojo Monday #495 Meets The Curtain Call

 photo Mojo 495pic.jpg

Welcome to the first Monday of the month which means it is contest time over at the  Mojo Monday blog :)   The more entries we get, the greater your chances of winning a Verve set of your choice!

I had this MME paper pad out on my desk still so decided to go with it, even though it has more of a fall versus spring colour theme.  I love fall colours and never tire of using them, though you may tire of seeing them {grin}.

This card combines this week's Mojo Monday sketch with the first Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge of the month called "Flutter".  If you know me at all, you know my love of butterflies, and I also love this butterfly die by PTI.  A match made in heaven :)   The sentiment is from Verve's Take Note.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Our weekend was a 50/50 split.  Saturday was wet and rainy and Sunday was gloriously sunny - the weather is taunting us with spring something fierce!!   I bought a few Osteos to plant in my garden as I am dying for some pops of colour and I was finally able to mow the back yard for the first time this year!  Still a bit boggy in spots, but it had to be done as it is in a terrible state.  The winter snow and rain has done a number on it and it will take a lot of TLC to bring it back :(   The moss is having a rave party out there, so hopefully we can get it under control.

Thanks for popping by and have a fabulous week!

Mojo Monday #494

 photo Mojo494pic.jpg

Last Mojo Monday sketch of the month and it is a fabulous one to work with!  Still playing with some of my hoarded Stella and Rose papers by My Mind's Eye - one of my all time favorite paper sets.

The flower is from Be Blessed and matching die set is Petal PointsElegant Leaves die was paired with the Versamarked leaf image Bloom and Grow over the die cut.  I sponged around the edges of the kraft panel and used the Autumn Thanks die set for the "thanks" and then added the extra/double sentiment tab to fill in the square.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Another weekend on the soccer fields, and the weather was rather nasty and wet :(   One day Spring will arrive and I won't have to dress like Nanook of the North any more LOL!

Wishing you a fabulous week!

Mojo Monday #493

 photo Mojo493pic.jpg

Happy Easter Monday everyone!!   Trusting you all had a wonderful Easter weekend.

Every Easter I am deeply humbled and grateful for the depth of my faith in God and Christ's death on the cross for me....brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart :)    So in celebration, I created a thank you card with my favorite theme - flowers.  I love flowers as they bring beautiful colour, brightness and joy to the world.  Can't wait for them to begin blooming in my yard again!!

I pulled out one of my favorite Verve sets, Dream Big.  It is an oldie but a goodie and these large flowers are da bomb {grin}.  I chose to go with orange flowers as I wanted a bold colour and to give it some screen time as it is an under loved colour and one I personally love.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

My son reffed all weekend in a high end provincial tournament so spent a lot of time at the soccer field and my daughter has two out of five final exams done before she can say she has completed her first year of university!  Glad for some great family time and relaxation tossed in too.

Thanks for popping in and I look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery.  Have a great week!!

Mojo Monday #492

 photo Mojo492picB.jpg

Happy Monday, everyone!  Love starting the week off with a good Mojo sketch :)

With the deluge of rain we have had for the past month (we have broken an 80 year old record for rainfall in March!!), I am thinking Spring as much as I can, so I paired this wonderful verse from Scripture Medley 2 with some flowered paper and some butterflies.  Added an extra sentiment tab to balance off the sentiment panel as it was a bit bare on the left side and a touch of Swiss Dots along the bottom for some texture and to ground the card.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

My son finally hit the wall this weekend....over the past three weeks he has reffed or been and AR (assistant ref - the sideline refs) for 35 games, and it has been made worse by the nasty weather they have had to work in.  However, he is not done just yet as he has another 11 games this week!  After this weekend, I think they have finally caught up on all the games that had to get rescheduled due to bad weather earlier in the year, much to everyone's delight - players included!!

Have a fabulous week, enjoy the sketch - so many possibilities with this one - and blessings for a wonderful Easter weekend.

Mojo Monday #491

 photo Mojo491pic.jpg

It is the first Monday of the month which means it is contest time over on the Mojo Moday blog :)    The more entries we get the greater the chance you have of winning some free Verve!  Whoo hoo!

I was cleaning out some paper pads and found the bright coloured polka dotted paper and decided to go with it and make a bright, birthday card using Verve's Get Together set so I use this big cupcake :)   Used a white background so the colours popped.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Another busy weekend driving my son to all his soccer reffing gigs.  He has been a reffing machine lately as they are making up a ton of the games that had to be cancelled earlier in the season due to the snow and frozen fields.   It is a real joy being able to see how much he has improved, and once the warmer weather comes, I will definitely be wearing my "Ref's Mom" jersey on the sidelines LOL!

Have a fabulous week everyone, and I look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery!

Mojo Monday #490

 photo Mojo490pic.jpg

Today's post is the perfect combination:  a Mojo Monday sketch combined with the Spring Coffee Lover's Blog Hop.  Julee created a free digi set in honor of the hop called Rise and Shine, and it is available at the Verve Store until April 17th. She is also running a contest with cards created with the set over on the Verve blog so check it out!  A great way to win some free Verve!

Verve has some fabulous coffee sets, and I chose to use Get Together and the Coffee word die for my card.  Paired them with some wonderful papers and some grosgrain ribbon - remember that stuff {grin}.  Still love using it and since the sketch called for some, I was all over it.  A paper pieced latte cup with a heart on the sleeve finished things off.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

My son reffed three games a day at a provincial soccer tournament all last week and had four games over the weekend, which means we are all pretty soccered out!  He did an amazing job despite the weather not being the best (thankful it didn't rain every day), and he made close to $700 last week!  Not bad for a 16 year old kid.  Told him I am going to start charging him mileage LOL!

Have a fabulous week everyone!

Mojo Monday #489

 photo Mojo489pic.jpg

Happy Monday everyone!!  Julee has created this fabulous sketch for us to work with and I absolutely love it!

I wanted to focus on spring colours when I saw this sketch, but as I flipped through my designer papers, I ran across this hoarded Simple Stories paper and just had to use it.   Calling it my week of winter/week before spring pallet {grin}.

I simply adore the mix of colours on this paper, and pulled the rest of my card colours from it.  Used a PTI "birthday" die cut and added a tab with just the word "happy" from the happy birthday sentiment in Poppy Birthday.  Added this gorgeous PTI butterfly for some dimension and pizzaz.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

My week off turned out to be much less productive than I had hoped and planned....I was absolutely wiped out and most likely fighting the bug the rest of the family got so I ended up sleeping a lot and laying low.  Fully energized again and ready to take on the weeks ahead  - booyah!!

Have a fabulous week and I hope you enjoy the sketch as much as I did!

Mojo Monday #488

 photo Mojo488pic.jpg

A nice easy sketch to work with this week and the sky is the limit as far as options you can go with.

I went with a masculine theme this time and kept it pretty simple as hubby keeps telling me men don't like fru-fru stuff on their cards.   An embossed background for a bit of texture, a big old brad in the middle of the ship's wheel for a bit of metal, and a bit of twine with a sailor's knot to finish things off.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Thankful to have this week off as my boss is off with his family for Spring Break.  Perfect for being able to get used to the time change and getting some of the "to do list" jobs done, not to mention having extra time with my kids :)

Have a fabulous week, and thanks for popping in today!

Mojo Monday #487

 photo Mojo487pic.jpg

Hard to believe it is March already!!  Definitely looking forward to extra daylight in the evenings a week from today :)   The doves are back and I know the woodpecker will be marking his territory by pecking on our metal exhaust duct on the roof any time soon!

For today's sketch I used a sentiment from Julee's free St. Patrick's Day digi set found here.   Perfect as I have several Irish friends I can send cards too.

Mixed and matched a few green papers, and also pulled in Lucky You and the coordinating Shamrock die set.   A few buttons and twine called it a card.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

We had an absolutely amazing time in California at the chiropractic convention!  Twenty four powerhouse speakers - twelve a day for two days!  Lots of great information, from chiropractic, to nutrition, to self development.  I was so overloaded after two days, I couldn't remember half the stuff we heard so I am very glad I can go back and review my notes!  Topped the trip off with my very first trip to Disneyland!!!  Sooooo much fun!!   Beyond blessed to work for an amazing man and co-worker.   Will post pictures later this week.

Have a fabulous day and look forward to seeing your creations in the Mojo Gallery!

Mojo Monday #486

 photo Mojo486pic.jpg

Almost the end of February - meep!!  The year has started with a bang and is moving forward lickity split already!

I pulled out some scraps of paper in delicious fall colours to create this card as they always make me all warm and fuzzy inside {grin}.  Mixed and matched them to work with the sketch and added a few hearts cut from a Starbucks sleeve with the Heart Quartet die set for a bit of added dimension.  The sentiment is from Kindness Matters, and I just realized that it isn't placed squarely on the card and is at a bit of an angle - ugh!!  Always happens when I am in a rush...  My apologies!!

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Was in California this weekend as my boss took myself and my job share partner down to LA for a chiropractic convention and it was simply amazing!!  So many great speakers and passionate chiros to talk to - loved it!!   I am blessed beyond measure to have such an amazing job and boss!!

Have a fabulous week and look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery.
