SFYTT - September 2015

SFTYY Sept 2015 photo SFYTTSeptpic.jpg

Time for another Sketch For You To Try card.  With the busyness of September, I am just now getting to this month's sketch.

My daughter's birthday was this Tuesday, and this sketch fit the bill.  Since she loves pink, ruffles and flowers, I pulled out Petals and Posies once again (love this set!) and went to work.  Ruffles - check.  Flowers - check, check. Pink - check, check, check lol.  Hoping this will be soft and feminine enough for her :)

Not sure how my baby got so big!  This mama is having a hard time with it LOL.  I am so proud of her and all of her accomplishments, how she has excelled academically and in her photography, how she has stood true to her values though out high school in the midst of pressure to do otherwise, and oh how I love her wit and her huge heart.  She is a precious girl and I am beyond blessed to be called her mother.  Happy Birthday, sweetheart!! I love you lots!

Sketch For You To Try Take 2

SFYTT Aug 2015 B photo SFYTTAug2015picB.jpg

Still playing with  my new Reverse Confetti goodies so decided to go with Take 2 of this month's Sketch For You To Try.

Since September is quickly approaching, and I just got Class Act, I just "had" to make a school themed card.  Created my own pattern on the kraft panel by stamping the A+ across the top and then had fun with some Confetti cuts :)   Adore this polka dotted apple and added a yellow sentiment tab to fill in some space and add a pop of colour.

Into my teacher, thank you stash it goes.  Even though my kids are now in high school, I still send notes to their teachers at the end of each semester thanking them for teaching my kids.  We have been extremely blessed with amazing teachers throughout each of my kids years in high school and fingers crossed, this year will be no different.

Thanks for popping in today and sharing a bit of your day with me :)

Sketch For You To Try

SFYTT Aug 2015 photo SFYTTAug2015picA.jpg

I am having great fun with my new Reverse Confetti goodies - gotta love combination of a Reverse Confetti sale and cash from my participation in my  LSS's garage sale burning a hole in my pocket!

This week's Colour Q had a fabulous combination which was perfect for flowers wink, wink :) and I combined it with this  month's Sketch For You To Try.  Loved the big panel and all the options it provides.

My card was heavily inspired by this card by Wanda Cullen -- she uses these flowers so well!  Layered Confetti Cuts created my focal panel and these delightful Petals and Posies adorned it.  A little "thanks" tab finished things off nicely.  Going to have a hard time putting these new goodies down!

Enjoy your day!

Just Us Girls #207 - Colour Challenge

JUGS 207 photo JUGS207picA.jpg

Today's challenge is brought to us by Lisa and she has a wonderful mix of colours for us to work with!

For some reason, I was in the mood to make a Christmas card.  Think it was the colour combo and then seeing Lesley's Merry Monday challenge.

I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try pulled out my beloved snowflake die - yeah!  Love using non-traditional Christmas colours, and with a few pops of red, some gold bells and a bit of gold bling I was set.

The rest of the  JUGS team has some wonderful samples to get your inspiration going, so head on over to the Just Us Girls blog, and check out what the Design Team has created.  Then put your creative genes to work and add your card/project to the challenge post on the JUGS blog for the chance to be chosen as the Chic of the Week.   In addition, there is a DT call out for some new members to join the Just Us Girls team! Check today's post for all the details.

Have a fabulous weekend, and I'll be back on Monday with my Mojo Monday card.

December SFYTT and a Fond Farwell

SFYTT Dec

This is the final Sketch for You To Try for this year - yeah, got them all done :)  The sad part is Jen just announced she will non longer be doing the sketch challenge.  A huge thank you to her for years of sketch inspiration!  Though I did have to laugh at the fact her last sketch has multiple skewed panels!

This sketch was a real stretch for me, and I'm not in love with the outcome, but I persevered and got her done!  A mix of SU papers, a few red snowflakes (not sure why I am on a red snowflake binge) and some embossing folders helped put this one together.

As per Jen's instructions, noted below is a list of links for each of my SFYTT cards for this year.  Was a fun trip down memory lane.

Now, just have to sit here with my fingers crossed for the grand prize draw later this month!  Thanks again, Jen, for all your wonderful sketches!  They will be missed!

November SFYTT

SFYTT

Hard to believe this is the second to last SFYTT sketch!  Where has the year gone?!  Jumped on it early this month as I wanted to change things up from all the Christmas cards I've been making.

Love these MME papers and dove in and used this bold, flower patterned piece as my starting point.  The rest flowed from there.  Even used a sentiment from this "Jen inspired" Verve sentiment set.  It's been a while since I've used a butterfly so was happy to do crimp one and add it to the card.

Wasn't totally satisfied with the card as the cream just jumped out at me, so I distressed the edges to give it a little something and was happy with the result.

So proud of my son who played his best soccer game this season over the weekend.  He scored a goal and set up the assist for the second - all as the rain just poured down on them the entire game.  He even won the best offensive player of the game jersey.  Yes, I am a proud mama :)

Thanks for dropping by today!

Happy Valentine's Day

SFYTT

Yes, you read right!  I made a Valentine's Day in October LOL!   Not intentionally...it just worked out for this sketch.

This month's Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT) was giving me grief, and after some pondering, the only solution I was able to come up with was to put flowers in the middle and have the leaves sticking over the sides.  Nothing too creative, but that is all my little creative gene could come up with for this sketch so I went with it.

Found this wonderful heart frame in my "reject" container and used it as the starting point for this card.  Kept things on the CAS side by sticking to mainly white, scoring the background panels for a little something, adding three different sized rolled roses, and finished things off with my "cheat" of using the leaves as the two side panels.

Thank for visiting today :)

Happy Birthday To You

2012 Faves

I'm getting this month's SFYTT done early as I needed a birthday card for hubby's birthday today.

I continued my Fall leaf theme as they make great masculine cards (any excuse will do wink, wink).  A Starbuck's sleeve was perfect for the two panels (tried hard to get the date stamp on the sleeve not to show, but it still managed to make an appearance) and this yummy wide, striped ribbon I have been hording finally came out to play.

I actually passed on the maple leaf this time (mostly because it didn't fit well on the panel - yes I tried it first) and used my unloved oak leaf instead.  The button finished things off nicely, and I just "had" to add a bow instead of a knot, but hubby is man enough to handle that LOL!

We survived the first week of school and working our way into our ramped up schedule.  Needless to say, we all slept in on Saturday.  Today we are going to be celebrating hubby's birthday.  My daughter has a friend whose mom is going to give him a Chinese dumpling cooking lesson and I think he will be thrilled with the lesson as he has always wanted to learn how to make them.  Then we will give him the TV remote for the rest of the afternoon so he can watch all the sports he wants to, with minimal interruptions as I don't think I can guarantee uninterrupted time with two kids in the house LOL!

Have a great day and I'll be back tomorrow with my Mojo Monday card.

Thank You Friend

With the recent Verve release challenges taking front seat, I finally have time to get to this month's SFYTT.  Best part is it is being sponsored by Verve Stamps and you all know I don't need any excuses to use Verve :)

I found this "U" in my scrap pile and decided to build my card around it.  A scrap of paper from the Garden Florals paper pack from Michael's and I was on my way.

I fussed and fiddled with this card for what seemed for ever!  Finally settled on this version as I had to quite while I was ahead because the family was beginning to scatter every time I came downstairs to see which option they liked best LOL!  Yes, it was one of those types of cards.

Hard to believe school is just a short week away!!  Summer seemed to fly by this year - think it was the fact we had about eight weeks of sunshine and were able to do so much :)  I'm dreading the early wake up time in my near future...it's always such a jolt to the system and by the end of the first week, everyone is a bit on the grouchy side as our body clocks are adjusting.

Off to enjoy our last week of summer :)

July SFYTT

Getting my July SFYTT done early so I don't have to think about it, or even worse, accidentally forget about doing it since it's summer time and we are out and about so much I don't have a consistent stamping time.

I combined the sketch with this week's ColourQ challenge and entered it into this week's Paper and Such Designs challenge.  Since MFT is this month's focus for the sketch, I pulled out their daisy die to make the flower.  Verve's fabulous Kind Words set provided the sentiment and I added an extra layer of white card stock with a punched border for a little more "oomph" and popped it up for some extra dimension.

Off for another day of swimming lessons for the kids and laps in the pool for me.  It's been a great way to jump start my fit and firm at fifty work outs again.  My fasciitis is finally gone (darn thing took six months to heal!) so I'm raring and ready to work out with a vengeance again and the fabulous weather we've been having definitely puts you in a good mood to do so :)

Thanks for popping in today!

Smile

Wanted to get this month's Sketch For You To Try done early as June is always insanely busy with it being the last month of school before summer vacation.  Parent and teacher teas, Sports Day, year end field trips and parties, soccer tournaments, piano recitals and exams, and the list goes on!  Tired just thinking about it!

Sorry...enough complaining! Back to the card.  I combined this month's SFYTT with this week's ColourQ which had a wonderful mix of colours to work with.  After a brief hiatus, I'm back to flowers and polka dots....sorry...well, not really....LOL...I just love making cards with them.

Lots of Verve goodies on this card - happy sigh.  Used three different sets for this card.  Just love how you can mix and match Verve stamps and dies - just in case you hadn't noticed how much I use them :)

Wishing you a fabulous day!  Thanks for dropping by.

A Shabby Tea Room SFYTT

Finally getting to this month's Sketch For You To Try.  Always reminds me how quickly the month goes by!

I used this week's sketch to make a birthday card for my mom.  I combined it with this week's  Shabby Tea Room inspiration picture as I just love pink and green together and this K & Company paper by Brenda Walton is a perfect fit.

I had to roll around in all the Andrea Ewen Diva Dust I could find in order to get the where-with-all to make this card.  She is the queen of floral/shabby cards and though this doesn't come close to her gorgeous creations, it is a big stretch for me and I fairly happy with the outcome.  Hopefully my mom will be happy with it as well LOL!

Thanks for dropping by and have a fabulous weekend!

SFYTT Mother's Day Version

This month's SFYTT is a nice easy layout, and the sky is the limit regarding what you want to put in the circle - love it!

Since I'm on a Mother's Day binge, here is one more for you.  Used the loopy bloom dies by Verve for the flowers  and went a bit crazy with the polka dots LOL!  April SFYTT sketch is done - yeah!

Big night tonite, it is the invitational night for soccer tryouts for my son.  He made the cut from the open tryouts and is basically guaranteed a spot on the silver team.  However, there is a chance he could make a gold team...just depends how badly he wants it and how he "shows" at the tryouts tonite....we will just have to wait and see....I'll be happy no matter where he ends up playing, but I do hate waiting to find out LOL!!

Have a fabulous day!

Happy Easter Punch Bunny

I'm sneaking in under the wire for March's SFYTT  as the month blitzed by and I almost forgot to do the sketch!

I saw this punched bunny on Pinterest a while back and just loved the concept so I incorporated it on this card.  I'm not thrilled with the colour combo, but when I used  darker colours, it was bit too morbid for a spring card - thus the switch to pastels.  Not my best card, but I got the sketch done....sorry Jen!

That's it for me today.  Busy weekend coming up for our family as all of us going in different directions on  Saturday (and I'm also out on Friday night)!  Thankfully I have my mom around to bail me out by taking my daughter to her piano lesson while I'm off at my activity.  Needless to say, I'm thinking Sunday is going to be a low key day for the family LOL!

Shamrock Wishes

2012 Faves

Decided to get this month's SFYTT done before the month slips away on me.  Plus, I have a few Irish friends and two friends with birthdays on St. Patrick's Day so it was shamrocks all the way :)

Jen's sketches are usually a bit tough for me as I don't colour images with Copis to pop up and I find her layouts gravitate towards that style of stamping, and so they should as she does a fabulous job at it!!

However, this time the cold/flu meds I'm taking may have come to my rescue LOL!  The three circles immediately brought shamrocks to mind.  I inked up Verve's Lucky You set again and this card card was born :)  Bonus: love the colour combo, hearts, polka dots and lacy nesties so I felt a whole lot better after making this card LOL!

Only glitch along the way was the fact I wanted to use the St. Patrick's Day sentiment from the set but it was too long to work well on the card so went with a birthday sentiment instead.

Good news is I feel like I am back in the land of the living again - yeah!!!  Not all the way there, but at least two thirds of the way - a far cry from Sunday, that's for sure.

Have a fabulous day and thanks for popping by today :)

You Make My Heart Flutter

Boy, can I tell it has been along time between stamping sessions....this SFYTT sketch ground my gears but good!  Kept it pretty CAS as the training wheels are back on for a few cards until I get going again.

This cute little bird stamp is from the Michael's $1.50 bin.  I coloured it with Twinkling H2Os and added some ribbon and a sentiment panel at the bottom to balance things off.  Nothing much too it.  Sorry I can't remember who the heart paper is by as I cut off the manfacturer somewhere along the way so the piece I had didn't have any info on it :(

The snow they were predicting for us seems to have bypassed us and headed south into Washignton State so that means I get a reprieve from shoveling LOL!  Thankfully the kids had a great day yesterday sledding down the hill .  The snow cat is still standing so all is good :)

Enjoy your day!
