Pretty in Pink and Silver

Wasn't sure about this sketch when I first saw it, but once I decided to use this fabulous Verve wreath as the focal circle, things fell into place nicely.

I love pink and silver together as well as pink and black so the three together were a dream to work with :)   The hardest part of the card was getting something black on the pink button.  I tried twine (too thick), I tried a large half pearl (too small) I tried a cluster of black half pearls (too busy) and finally settled on some black curly cues under the button as I had run out of options and this was the best of the bunch!

Short and sweet today as I have a busy day ahead.  Off to the laundromat to wash our summer comforters in their large size machines.  Tired last week but every time I popped in someone had taken it.  So today, I'm there for opening at 8:30 so they get done and put away.

Wishing you a fabulous day!

Tag Fun And One More Cough, Cough, Maple Leaf...

This week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge is to have an element of your card going over the edge.  I combined it with this week's JAI  and Wee Memories challenge of making a tag. I haven't made a tag forever so it was a perfect excuse to have some fun :)

I had this maple leaf in my "left over box" so I decided to add it to the tag as it was an easy shoe in for going over the edge on this fun, small sized tag pallet. Some fun mixing of fall colours and my job was done.  Not sure this qualifies as a CAS tag, but I had fun making it none-the-less.

Now it's off to rake the maple leaves off my lawn as they are falling profusely  - penance for posting so many over the past month or so LOL!

Thanks to popping by today :)

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #94

Just love these bright, deep, rich colours together (not sure if you can have bright and deep rich together but it works for me lol).  They make you sit up and say "hello"!!  I paired them with a sketch by Chupa from a month or so ago as I loved it and had saved it in my sketch file.

I never have to twist my arm to make a card with a flower on it so this one was a lot of fun to create.  This PTI flower die is perfect for crimping so I did just that.  Kept the rest of the card pretty simple, and I'm loving the pops of colour against the white background :)

I'm saddened that my supply of this fabulous polka dotted ribbon is dwindling as I just love it.  Got a bunch of rolls at a dollar store and haven't found any more in any of the one's I've hit around here so I'm rationing it.

The rest of the Design Team has some fabulous cards for your inspiration.

Christmas Joy

This week's Mojo Monday round or square card lead me to the square sketch.  As much as I love round cards, I just couldn't get it to work.  Will have to give it a try it another day to see if I have more success.

Since I still had this Heidi Grace paper out from yesterday's card, I decided to use it again and make sure the final outcome was indeed a Christmas card LOL!

I used clear embossing powder on the ornament to make it a nice, dark navy (though it looks more on the black side in the picture!) and added some white half pearls and a red bow to bring it out a bit.  This gorgeous curvy bookplate die from Verve was calling my name as it fit perfectly.  Had to use "joy" for the sentiment as Christmas brings me great joy each and every year :)

Christmas Card Gone Wrong

I'm not exactly thrilled with this card.  Maybe it's because I started off wanting to make a Christmas card and it didn't end up that way, or the colour combo just isn't working, but something just isn't sitting right with me.

My daughter says it's because of how I layered the owl's eyes, because the black stands out so much it looks like the eyes are following you LOL!  Do believe she is correct.  Poor little guy looks more like a Halloween leftover.  Note to self:  don't do his eyes this way again.

So...I am limping to the finish line of this month's Verve sketches and have butchered poor Andrea's sketch.  Sorry my friend...and there isn't even a skewed panel in sight LOL!  Good thing tomorrow is another day :)

A Milestone Birthday

This sketch was perfect for a 50th birthday card for the husband of a very dear friend of mine.  I went with black as he loves riding his Harley and I don't have any chopper images.  Plus, I want to poke a bit of fun at him as he rings in the new decade :)

Wish I had the embossing folder with the metal hatches on it, but don't, so I used Tim Holtz's brick wall embossing folder instead (aka:  old, cracking wall...I know, I'm bad, but I love it lol).  A big silver 5 - 0 came next so there is no denying the birthday being celebrated and some silver brads to match the studs on his leather riding jacket and stars as he is the star of the party.  I'm going to pay for this, I know it, but it's well worth it LOL!

Have a glorious day.

Mojo Christmas

This week's Mojo Monday sketch was a nice simple one.  Love this type of sketch as you can dress it up or keep it CAS - the sky is the limit on what you want to do with it.

For some reason I was in the mood for a Christmas card.  Maybe it's because it's just a short two months away!!  Where has the year gone??!!

Dots and snowflakes abound on this card - love it!   Some silver cording, a few bells, and some dew drops (remember those!) called it a card.   A nice, quick and easy card.

Have a great day and thanks for popping by :)

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #93

I decided to make a wedding card using this sketch as I haven't made one forever.  Plus I wanted to use some of yummy DP I found, but unfortunately it ended up being mostly covered up!

Nothing too fancy here.  The cream linen paper has a texture to it which helps but all in all it is a pretty CAS card.  Wish I had an in between sized heart nestie as this one was just a little too small to fit in the sentiment swirls, and the next one was too large for the sketch.  Felt like Goldilocks minus the heart shaped nestie that was juuuust right LOL!   I opted for the smaller one and finished things off with some gold beading and a rolled rose.

The rest of the Design Team has some fabulous cards for your inspiration.

Giddy over Tuesday's Trigger

I was giddy when I saw this fabulous Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.  Just looooove the colour array of the blocks as they are very conducive to ahem....leaves....ahem....maple leaves to be precise LOL!

We have quite a few maple trees on our street and they are gloriously displaying these colours so it was the perfect excuse inspiration to put one on my card....at least that is my story and I'm sticking to it :)

I paired the Trigger with this week's Card Positioning Sketch because the large circle in the sketch was perfect for a maple leaf.  Needless to say, out came my PTI maple leaf die and this card is the result.

For those of you who are beginning to feel a strong subliminal urge to rake maple leaves due all the maple leaf cards I have been posing, take heart!  Our maple trees are beginning to show some signs of dropping their leaves so I'll be raking them off the lawn soon enough as penance for flogging them so shamelessly on my blog!  Until then, I'll enjoy them as long as I can :)

A Thank You For A Dear Friend (Revised)

Edited: No you are not seeing twice.  This is the revised photo of my card without the twine bow on the "U".  Got late so didn't post it yesterday and re-posting it today.  I'm glad to state it confirmed my decision to remove the bow as per the last paragraph below.

Diva Charmaine brought us this fabulous Verve sketch to work with this week.  I just love simple sketches as you can dress them up or keep them CAS - the sky is the limit on what you want to do :)

I made this thank you card for a dear friend I got to visit this past weekend.  She now lives in Washington state so we don't get to see each other nearly as often as we would like to, but the times we do spend together are like time has never passed.  I treasure friendships like ours and wanted to thank her for her time and hospitality and to remind her how much she means to me.

This wonderful Lime Twist paper by My Mind's Eye was my starting point as purple is her favorite colour and this allowed me to incorporate a few variations of the colour.  For a change of pace and a little extra something, I punched the side of the card with Martha Stewart's Modern Gable punch as she loves lace too.

Now that I look at the picture, I don't know what possessed me to add the twine bow.  It doesn't really fit in with the rest of the card and clutters up the focal panel.  It's already been disposed of and since it was late last night when I was writing this post, I didn't want to mess with the light box as I don't like how my pictures turn out in it (insert: need another lamp and more practice).  That means I'll be taking a new picture this morning once the sun is high enough to replace this one.  Until then, just imagine it isn't there, or do like I did and place your finger over the bow and effectively remove it LOL!  Be back soon :)
