Je T'Aime

Having fun using some of my Christmas gifts :)  I couldn't wait to us my Eiffel Tower die and this sketch was perfect for it! 

In keeping with the French theme, I die cut a sparkly Eiffel Tower.  In real life if is far from sparkly - I've seen it, walked up it (when you still could) and it is really not all that wonderful up close. But when the sun shines on it or the moonlight hits it, you do begin to believe it can sparkle.

The sentiment is computer generated and I added lots of hearts, after all, it is the city of love :)  A perfect card for t his week's Paper Players challenge.

Mojo Monday #275

It's the first week of the month, which means it's contest week over on the Mojo Monday blog.  This week's sketch was designed by Julee and provided some fun panels to work with.  I used some of Carta Bella Valentine's Day papers and just started layering LOL!

The sentiment brings back many fond memories of reading the bedtime story with this sentiment in it to my kids when they were young.  We still say it to each other now and then even though they are basically teenagers - love it :)

The embossing folder added some texture on my white panels, the ribbon a wonderful pop of colour, the hearts are the flower in the sketch and the curled edges a little something.

Kids are back to school today and my body isn't sure what hit it as getting up early again was a shock to the system LOL!  But I must say, I sure enjoyed the later nights and sleeping in over the break :)

Just Us Girls #170

First of all, I want to welcome Tangii Crain to the Just Us Girls design team!  With Lynn's departure, we needed a new team member and she said yes :)  Tangii  is a talented stamper who currently serves on several design teams, and we are glad she decided to join ours as well :)

This week's sketch is brought to us by Andrea.  I must confess, I just about had cardiac arrest when I first saw it LOL!  Had to stew on it for some time but finally came up with this card.  Very CAS and in keeping with my heart theme.   I punched out 8 hearts and made the 3D one hanging from the silver cording to try to add a little something. Not my best card, but time was of the essence so I went with it.

Get Well Soon

We are off and starting a new year of Verve sketch challenges. This year, we have a twist in the  mist.  Once a month there will be an inspiration picture with the sketch for that week which you can include in your card if you like. This week's inpsiration picture is lovely.

The turquoise and orange make such a striking and wonderful colour combo.  I immediately thought of MME's On The Bright side paper pack and pulled out this wonderful rusty/orange paper.  In lieu of the two side circles, I used butterflies.

Kids are still off school this week so not too much crafty time, but lots of family time which is great :)   Working on cleaning out a few areas of the house and it feels good!  Maxed out on puzzle making so back into reading now.  Soon enough we will be back into the throws of a busy schedule so I am savoring the rest of our time together.

Favorite Cards of 2012 - July through December

Happy New year everyone!!   So glad for 2012 to be over. Done. Gone.  Can you tell it wasn't a good year LOL!  Hoping 2013 will be a much better year!  

Today's post covers my favorite cards of 2012 from July through December.  It is always such fun going back through the year and seeing how your style has progressed, changed and grown.  Be forewarned, I had a hard time narrowing things down so there are a lot of cards in this post.

Mojo Monday #274

Happy New Year's Eve everyone!!!  I am very glad to see the back end of 2012!  It has been a very hard, trying year in many ways and I am definitely looking forward to a fresh start in 2013.

Today we have a wonderful round sketch by Carole.  It was great to work with and that circle was perfect for using two of my favorite Verve dies - my beloved  jotted heart and U dies.  Lots of polka dots as well as one of my favorite colour combos - pink and grey.  Needless to say, it was fun making this card.  It's hard to see in the picture, but the heart is crimped for some dimension.

Enjoy your New Year's Eve festivities if you are participating in any, or if you are like me, enjoy ringing in 2013 as you sleep (aren't I a lot of fun LOL!).  We don't have anything planned and that is fine by me.  Quite often I like to take the evening to simply reflect on the past year, and set a few goals for the upcoming year.   That way I have something to aim for rather than just drifting through the year.  Don't have a word for 2013 just yet, still pondering a few options.  I'll let you know once I decide.  Cheers to a wonderful 2013!!

Just Us Girls 169

First and foremost, I want to wish a very sad farewell to Lynn.  This is her last week as a Design Team member and she will be sorely missed.  She is a wonderful person and stamper and her kind, genuine heart will be missed along with her wonderful CAS cards!  Hugs to you Lynn!!!

Since we have five Friday's this month, today's challenge is a "wild card" challenge hosted by Maria and this week's theme is sparkle.  Bring out the bling, sparkly paper, embossing powder, shimmer paper or whatever you want to add sparkle to your card!  A totally fun and perfect theme for time of year :)

I used this week's Retro Sketch as it had lots of room for a big, sparkly, die cut heart :)   I gleefully used my brand new PTI hearts border die and then added the hearts embossing on the focal panel.  A bit of bling on each heart along with some silver twine and a silver bow all added up to a lot of sparkle all round.

I'm so relaxed right now I think I'm tired LOL!  One book down (Ken Follet's Winter of the World), three puzzles made and a fourth one up and running.  Also have my brother and SIL heading over for a two day visit as they were away over Christmas, so it should be a great weekend :)
