When I first saw these colours I took a big gulp, but once I had them out in front of me and began to play around with them, I was hooked LOL! Absolutely love how they work together and the bold statement they make. I must admit they are not colours I would naturally gravitate towards, and that is why I love colour challenges! They make me get out of my colour ruts and allow me to find some great new combinations.
I paired this week's colours with the first Verve sketch for February. And, since it is February and Valentine's Day is yet to come, I seized the opportunity to use these masculine colours to make my hubby's Valentine's Day card using Verve's Love Notes set which my wonderful blogging friend Tanis gave me for my birthday. Thanks again, Tanis!! I am having so much fun with this set and think of you ever time I use it (((hugs))).
From force of habit, I used my lacey circle nesties, and when I realized what I had done I decided I liked and and that hubby is man enough to handle them LOL! You can barely see it, but the black panel has the word "hugs" clear embossed all over it. I found this cute heart button and added it to the sentiment panel and did a bit of faux stitching on the side. In another moment of habit and weakness, I added a bow. Poor hubby is going to have to put up with that too LOL!
The rest of the Design Team has some great inspiration to get you going on this week's sketch.

You did an amazing job - and that Love Notes set definitely agrees with you. The black panel with it's dry embossing is so lovely! I'm glad you're getting some fabulous creating time with your new Verve because it's all inspiring me! I will defintely give this color challenge a go - yours turned out beautifully!
Darn lacey nesties are on my must purchase list thanks to your blog =)
This is beautiful. I love the way you used your colors. They are a tough combination but they challenge the norm.. Have a wonderful weekend.
Oh, great card, Marisa! You used those challenging colors beautifully. This is super for your hubby's Heart Day card!!
These colors make a great masculine Valentine! I love the way you stitched the banner for the sentiment and added the heart button. I *heart* this Love Notes set, I just have to work it into my budget eventually!
Cute, I like the little bit of stitching you added to the sentiment tag! I need to try this sketch too....
I really like the flag sewn on the heart - cute touch!
Cindy :)
Wonderful Marisa! I love the colours and layout. xx
I think men silently like bows. He'll probably be alright with this. I love it!
Gorgeous card, Marisa. You rocked the sketch.
Great sketch, awesome colors and hubby is sure to like it. I enlarged it and could see those 'hugs' all over. You know, men don't always see everything we girls do, so just maybe he won't notice a ribbon and lacy nestie. LOL Meant to say I like your faux stitching.
Marisa, this card is beautiful! You did a wonderful job on the colors and sketch :)!!! Hugs ~S~
this was kind of funny...as I was reading your description of making the card, I could feel your excitement!! LOL Weird? or are we on the same wave lenght? lol I don't think hubby will mind at all...Tony and Jake both put up with a little "frill" now and then...and I'm sure your dh will too for his beautiful card maker :) They love that we make them by hand :) I thought you got out the sewing machine for this!! LOL Maybe faux will be first to warm you up and then you'll plunge!! Great colours too :) have a fun weekend !!
this is beautiful, Marisa! love the embossing and that heart!
Beautiful colors and fabulous detaiing, Marisa! Love the little touch of stitching with the sentiment! Love the Love!
Great card Marisa! Love the subtle texture the clear embossing gives, teamed with the linen texture of the Baja & Cherry & the grosgrain ribbon! The "stitched" on tag is so cute & I love the lacey nestie (hope hubby does too). :)
Beautiful Marisa! Great sketch to work with too.
